Plat #121 Maneater (PS5)
Simple brainless fun. Small shark eats small fish gets bigger, becomes big bad ass shark monster, eats more stuff. Have been playing it for the last few weekends with a friend. It was a laugh.

Yeah I imagine DLC is just more of the same but as it was PS+ freebie I was just trying to get through more of the backlog and have no intention of spending actual money on it

@sorteddan Congrats 👍. Not played the game but heard good things and sounds like you enjoyed it a lot. I think I might even have this from it being a PS+ game so will have to try it.

I got the Maneater platinum too as it was one of the first PS5 games I had (via PS+ freebie). It was pretty repetitive and I finished the game still having no idea how to actually attract increasing levels of “heat” (or whatever its called) and I felt that attacking ships was mostly button bashing and hoping for the best.

Just got my 18th plat on MLB the Show 22, was way easier then I thought it would be. Knocked it out of the park, just shy of 10 hours, also breaking my own record in fastest Platinum.

@colonelkilgore It was my first MLB game I played but from what I heard they make it easier every year, to get the platinum. TBH I wished it had some trophies in their career mode, still enjoyed my time with it.

@SirWoolsley hmmm… never played one myself but have heard good things. Might have to check it out as I’m on a bit of a mission to pop multiple plats relatively quickly in the build up to God of War: Ragnarok.

@SirWoolsley I’ve only played the PS+ freebie MLB game and exclusively played Road to the Show which I enjoyed but got nowhere near the plat.

I seem to remember an article on this site saying it was pretty easy to get compared to older games but they all count!

@colonelkilgore @Thrillho The trophy is very easy to get, only one online trophy (just play one co-op game), no grinding. Even made easier by very customisable sliders, so you can set how good the AI is in catching, hitting the ball, how fast their players are and etc. and same for yourself, you can set how much leeway you're given for all those aspects. Very beginner friendly, knowing I never touched an MLB game before.

@SirWoolsley I was really impressed with the array of difficulty settings and control schemes, along with the panoply of game modes available.

But my experience of the game was playing on low difficulty like..

@Thrillho Can't disagree with that, especially if you keep getting home runs 5 times in a row.

But that's the beauty of the game, it allows you to play as and as hard as you want. I appreciate a game that allows an easy entry, for everyone, and to set more difficult games if you get the hang off it. Plus the multiplayer if you want to challenge yourself against other people.

And it made me getting the plat easy breezy, which is a definite plus for me

@SirWoolsley Nice one 👍. I know nothing about MLB or even anything about baseball but that sounds insanely fast for a sports game platinum.

@RogerRoger I haven't been playing much playstation lately, it's all been Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy on xbox (almost finished, loving the linear single player gameplay) and occasionally WarioWare: Get it Together on Switch (I didn't think it was for me after the demo, but I got it physically on the cheap and now kinda hooked) when I have time.

I've been concentrating more on getting back into serious weight training again with a calorie deficit, put on 15kg over the last two years or so, not good. Also reading more, I've neglected that for vidya over the same time frame. So I'm gaming a bit less.

Managed to finish off the PGA Tour 2K21 Plat a few days back. Also played a couple of quick ones with Unpacking and Hitman Go (blame you @colonelkilgore for that one 😉) to add to my tally. Then a little while ago I knocked out my 5th online race win to get the Hot Wheels Unleashed Platinum. That was one of those ones I wasn't sure I was going to get but despite a few tricky bits the trophies slowly popped.
