The other day when my son went to play Jedi Fallen Order he noticed that the disk drive is starting to go out on my OG PS4. It got me thinking of picking up another PS4 possibly a Slim unless I can find a good deal on a Pro. However I had a few questions that I hope someone can answer.
1) Is it possible to have my PSN account on both systems? Now I have got quite the digital collection since I owned the PS4 since launch day, sales, PS+ games etc. If I get another PS4 are those games tied to the console or my Account.
2) Can I access two different games from the same account on two different PS4's at the same time like If I was play a digital copy of The Outer Worlds on one PS4 and my son wanted to play a digital copy of Mafia III on the other at the same time.
3) Most of my games are stored on an external HDD does this mean I would have to swap the hard drive back and forth between the systems?
4). Since his is a account is a child account tied to mine will be still be able to use his if I move my account to the other PS4.
Thanks again for any info oh and please don't suggest a PS5. I am well aware of them being bc with PS4 but I don't want one right now as I still have a huge backlog of PS4 games to play and owning a PS5 would just be tempting me to buy more games that I don't needed right now.
@Genrou I have a Pro and a slim set up in different rooms. I use my account on both so have full access to my digital games on both. One will be designated as your 'Primary' device but this only affected me once when my wi-fi went down and it wouldn't let me access stuff on my slim as it wasn't the primary.
Only one system can be logged into the account at any one time though but other accounts can be on the console. When my brother visits he has logged into one while I'm on the other.
Not sure about swapping external hard drives or child accounts though.
@Genrou I take my external hdd and plug it into my dad's ps4 when I go over. It takes about 5 - 10 mins to load all the games. If there is a game already installed on the internal hdd, you will be asked where do you want to keep it.
I left my external hdd over my parents last time I was over. The games still appeared on the dashboard, but the ones that are in the external drive will have an 'X' by them. If I wanted to play any of those games, j was given the option to delete and then download the game again to the internal drive.
