I setup a US PSN account a while back but never used it as I was planning on buying US PSN cards to save money on purchases. But most places had a mark up so I did not save anything. I live in the UK and I am going to create a US based Paypal account and make my purchases through that. Has anyone else done this?
Will the games purchased through the US store work on every PSN account or just the one it is bought through?
As long as you set that PS4 as the primary console for that account (can be done for every account on that console), then all the other accounts on the console can play the games, earn trophies, etc etc.
Also, rather than mess around with PayPal, just use a site like cdkeys to buy US PSN vouchers and add the credit to your account with the code they send you.
(Edit: at the time I bought them the markup on cdkeys was basically negligible, unlike every other place I'd seen like eBay. Definitely worth checking out!)
It's dead easy, I did it to pick up both Wolfenstein games for under a tenner in one of the recent US sales
Only console that is account restricted is the vita.
From 16/08/15 I’m going for sober for six months to raise money for the Princess Alice Hospice. Donations can be made here and anything you can offer is greatly appreciated: https://www.justgiving.com/Stephen-Butler5
I've bought a few games now, most recently Life is Strange complete game for £6.50, and just picked up Star Wars Battlefront for £25. Few things I've learn't that you should be aware of though.
1. Obviously the first being DLC is region locked, so if you buy a US game, you will need to buy the US DLC not the EU/UK.
2. Whilst themes work between accounts, avatars do not
3. Some season passes are classified as "services" and not addons. This means that for example if you were to buy Rainbow Six Siege's season pass on a US copy with a US account, it would not carry over onto your EU/UK account. Something like Battlefront however or the episodes of Life is Strange are counted as addons, therefore they will work across both accounts fine
Other than those points, I've had no major issues - there are savings to be had and I'm slowly moving over to digital purchases on games I know I'm going to play for more than a week or two.
CDKEYS do sell US game codes which have some bargains from time to time, other than that buying Amazon's top up cards (http://www.amazon.com/50-PlayStation-Store-Gift-Card/dp/B004RMK4P8/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?ie=UTF8&th=0&vs=1) has been a very simple/straightforward process.
If you have any other questions, I'll try and answer them.
