@Ralizah Awesome, I’m impressed at your persistence and glad to hear it paid off. What have you got left to do?

@RogerRoger I should have known whining about it would make it where I could finally do it. I still don't understand why I'm given so much less time and inflict so much less damage than everyone else online who has posted a video of this Hard time attack challenge. It's really frustrating doing a fraction of the damage to the thing when I see myself doing the exact same thing (I even positioned myself identically to how one guy did in a video to compare damage output, and I was doing... maybe half damage per stab? Sometimes less. It was insane).

Maybe I should have given up, but a part of me would have been immensely unsatisfied if I had. And, in fairness, I was really close to doing so. I even deleted the game last night and then, a few minutes later, sighed and started re-downloading it so I could try again the next day.

@colonelkilgore Honestly, that wasn't even satisfying. I'm just glad it's done.

@render Normal time attack trials (4 deep into that atm; beat the stupid 12th colossus on my second try on that, even with him still not giving me more than two stabs per grab, because I've pretty thoroughly memorized the routines for that nightmarish fight). A hard mode speedrun (should be fairly simple with the powerful gear one unlocks by completing the time trials). A grindy trophy that wants you to max out your health and stamina (shouldn't be too hard after the speedrun, since your health and stamina increase naturally after killing colossi anyway). And then a mess of smaller trophies that I'll need to clean up. Currently trying to figure out how to take out the third one without making him break his wrist armor, which is another trophy.

@Ralizah I love Shadow of the Colossus but the trophy list is awful.

@Ralizah After reinstalling I can see that I’ve done time attack on normal for all but got 2 into hard+ and left it there. I’d have been tempted to continue that at some point but after hearing your troubles I’m now not so sure. It’s such a great looking game now I’m looking at it again and I love the emptiness of it all, something that actually works for it.

@render I don't regret getting the platinum trophy, but a few of the trophies are annoying as hell. That one hard time attack was the major hurdle for me, though. Everything else was pretty simple, if profoundly repetitive.

It's a flawed game, but there's nothing else out there that's really like it. I liked it on the PS2, and I definitely like it more on the PS4 with the (mostly) gorgeous visuals and stable framerate.

@Keith_Zissou Thanks. Yeah, I was profoundly relieved when I finally got over that particular hurdle.

@Th3solution It's kinda like Rayman Legends, where 98% of the trophy list is fine, but one, in particular, turns the game into a grueling grind.

Not a huge deal, though. Most of my playtime with SotC ended up being on mute as I listened to podcasts while grinding colossi over and over.

@RogerRoger It's weird, because none of the other colossi on the hard time attacks were having issues with their animation timing or damage multipliers.

That's probably far higher praise they I deserve, but I appreciate the sentiment regardless.

Just started Rise of the Tomb Raider (thanks for the nudge @JohnnyShoulder) and it’s rare that I click with a game instantly… but I have with this. I remember quite enjoying the previous game but something about this one seems pretty special.

@Keith_Zissou hmm that's worth knowing... I'll do a little research but I assume that you did some yourself. Cheers buddy, what are you playing post Control?

@colonelkilgore No worries dude, hope you continue to enjoy it as much as you have done at the start.

@Keith_Zissou yeah not every game clicks with everyone… even good ones. Maybe it’s ‘that’ time to start your first From Soft game 😉.

Okay buddy, I’ll keep that in mind about co-op etc. hope you find something that clicks over the new year 👊

I started to play Salt & Sanctuary over at my parents, and I have enjoyed it enough to carry on playing now that I'm home. Plus I fear if I stop now I will probably have no idea what to do next. It's a 2D scrolling Darks Souls clone with added minor platforming. The combat feels really good and the RPG stuff seems to be quite deep. The bosses haven't been that difficult so far as I've beaten all the ones I've faced on the 2nd attempt, but I wouldn't say it is an easy game generally. Graphically it is not that great, and sometimes it can be so murky that it is hard to see stuff like your arrow trails properly.

So managed to get about 7 hours of Rise of the Tomb Raider in (we’re having visitors now so I have to log off 🤬) but I’m already a huge fan. It looks beautiful, it plays very well, the location(s) is(are) great, the tombs are awesome… and the lore hooked me from around 15 minutes in. One of the rare third party games that gets somewhere near the level of a Sony first party blockbuster imho 🧐.

@RogerRoger cheers Rog, I remember that you plat’d Shadow of the… recently, for my own personal expectations (as I have that lined up too) how would you rank the trilogy?

@RogerRoger so it’s the 20 Year Celebration, so hopefully it will include the dlc but if not I’ll certainly look to pick them up on the strength of your recommendation.

So I think I have Shadow otTR planned for 2023… so judging on how much I’m enjoying this, I’ll be chomping at the bit by then .

@JohnnyShoulder I’m thinking of getting back into Salt and Sanctuary as you can play coop so might see if the wife will get along with it. I played it for a little while but didn’t get very far as it was not long after that I got the PS5 so that ended up distracting me somewhat. It seemed quite fun though but I do remember dying quite a few times in the first area just getting used to it.

@RogerRoger of course you did, sorry mate I mis-read. Yeah so I think I’ll stick the dlc on my watchlist and pick it up if and when it goes on sale over the next year 👍

@render I was planning on playing resi evil 8 next, but salt & sanctuary got its hooks into me, so I've just continued playing it. I only got it as I had some money left over from a recent purchase, but have been eying it up for an age.

@Keith_Zissou @RogerRoger I’m playing it on Survivor to avoid having to do multiple playthroughs (though from what you said yesterday Keith about the optional tombs not registering, I might yet have to). I’m probably not that far through it yet but I haven’t found it too taxing yet, the only real difficulty spike so far was having to deal with two armoured enemies and four normal enemies at the same time. Still, it was manageable… I’ve heard the final section is very tough on Survivor, so we shall see.

@RogerRoger I’ll keep that in mind.

… and I checked my copy of Shadow… and it is the Definitive, so no worries on having to monitor the dlc 👍

@Th3solution @colonelkilgore @Jimmer-jammer I am currently playing through Kena, and have defeated the first four bosses, the first two were easy, whilst the latter were more challenging. Enjoying exploring the colorful and vibrant world, although the path is strictly linear thus far.

@JohnnyShoulder Did Wood Knight and Sprout Captain give you much trouble? And are later bosses about on par with them or harder?
