Every console in history always have an notorious fail. Xbox 360: Red Ring Of Death. PS3: Insane price and most of the games requires install of some data on the system. Wii: Gamecube graphics. Wii U: Low GPU. Xbox One: Not Backwards Compatible and Used games fee.
Possibly a 500Gb hard drive (not nearly enough) and mayyybe a lack of IPs other than Killzone and Infamous. If they announce one or two more for the launch I think they'd be good. Maybe price too but hopefully they learned from their mistakes with PS3 and even Vita's price.
A 500GB hard drive won't be that big of a mistake since that's what the Xbox One comes with and you have to put the entire disc on the system on Xbox One. On PS4 you can let the game stay on the disc.

Probably true but I guarantee some devs will require at least some of the game data to install onto it. I've had my 160gb PS3 for about 2 years and I'm down to 10 gb left. 500gb would last me maybe 3-4 years on PS4
I think new ip's will be one of the PS4's strengths, they have been very busy schmoozing with developers and this time atound games are going to be much easier to develop on Playstation. I think the greatest weakness with the PS3 was the cell processor even though it was more powerful, only the best developers could Get a good result from it. I think the greatest weakness of the PS4 may be the exclusivity deals on xbox, I hate to say it because COD is low on my list, but is immensely popular. I do think the PS4 is going to do a lot better this gen though and possibly dominate, I think there is a pretty good chance of that.
No backwards compatibility is a kick in the teeth, no doubt, but once the new software starts rolling in people will forget about it - it happened with the PS3. Although unlike the the PS2, Sony's third home console has a gigantic catalogue of digital games. But again, I think a lack of b/c isn't enough to really damage a console.
The biggest mistake Sony can possibly make with the PS4 - something that Microsoft is already doing with the Xbox One if their half-assed answers are to be believed - is making it require an internet connection. That's the biggest deal breaker I can think of, and it's a system that will do neither company any favours, considering there are still gigantic amounts of people without the ability to connect to the internet on a regular basis.
Now I know Sony have stated something along the lines of 'you don't have to be online to use the PS4' but that's exactly the type of thing Microsoft said before detailing 'but you have to be online once every 24 hours'. I'm just praying Sony don't implement something similar.
I tend to give away to my cousins or sell those consoles when I'm going to buy a new console so all this no BC ruined my plans and some of those people that never got a PS3 will never have the chance of trying some amazing games like Infamous, Uncharted and Ratchet and Clank. I was also hoping to play all the games I got thanks to PS+ and few other purchases but this also got in the way.T_T
No backwards compatibility with your PSN games purchased from your PS3. Real killer there.

Uuhm because BC compability is overrated? ! I just keep my ps3 next to my ps4. If people want to pay another 50 dollars just ask for BC
I've already had a PS3 break on me within a little over a year of owning it. I don't honestly expect these machines to last very long, so Backwards Compatibility will be extremely important once my PS3 inevitably breaks, which could be tomorrow for all I know. I would gladly pay an extra 50 dollars for a PS4 if it meant I could play my PS3 and PSN games, instead of another $300.

I bought a second ps3 which i never use because of the things you said. Then again.. My fatboy ps3 also broke and i was so sad.
Wii Us biggest "flaw" is actually it's CPU. Now to be on topic PS4's mistake I believe will be on what they do with PSPlus. It's okay where it is now on PS3 the only annoyance being that you can only get automatic updates if you're subscribed. If that exclusive "feature" returns and/or something else nagging like that it'll leave a sour aftertaste. Other than that we can only hope the launch titles are up to snuff.
