Today marks a special occasion for Sony because today is the two year anniversary of the PS Vita's release in North America. The handheld hasn't had much success commercially, carving out a user base of just over 7 million units globally. It has received a bunch of quality games in the past two years like Tearaway, Gravity Rush, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Little Big Planet, Killzone Mercenary, and many more. While its certainly been a bumpy ride for Sony's next-gen handheld, its an amazing piece of technology that should be in your home. PS4 remote play alone makes the Vita a worthy purchase. Things started off a bit rocky in 2012 as there wasn't much to purchase for Vita after Gravity Rush and Uncharted. A drought lasted a few months until late 2012 gave us Persona 4 Golden, Assassin's Creed: Liberation, and Call of Duty Black Ops Declassified and Soul Sacrifice in mid-2013. And in 2013 the Vita became an indie gaming machine and continues to get solid support from small developers who have found a successful market for their games on it despite what others may have told them they would find. Spelunky, Sound Shapes, Guacamelee are just a few of the great indie games on the PS Vita. 2014 looks like it will be pretty good for the Vita as Minecraft, Murasaki's Baby, Helldivers, Sly Cooper Collection, God of War Collection, Borderlands 2 and others are set to release. Its fitting that as the system celebrates its second birthday Sony is set to release the first redesigned model, the Vita 2000, in the US in the next month or so. This new model comes with Borderlands 2, an 8GB memory card and of course, the newest model of the Vita. The Vita 2000 supports micro-USB chargers, drops the OLED screen for LCD and sports longer battery life. Sony isn't saying when it comes out this spring but Amazon says March 18th so there's that.Did you get your Vita at launch? Or did you get it during one of the many great Black Friday sales during 2012 that had the system for $70 off? What are some of your favorite PS Vita related memories?

Haha, yes, you're right. I actually did remember - albeit too late to post anything. In hindsight, though, there's not really a lot to say about the Vita's current position two years on than was being said two months on. It's a brilliant handheld that's struggling to attract a mainstream audience, but very much has a passionate fanbase.
You're right to bring it up, though - happy birthday Vita!
