Do you feel it's worth it? I just got a voucher code in one of my new games i purchased for a two week free trial. I've never had PS plus until now and i wasn't sure i wanted it but i went ahead and decided to try it. I'm not much for online gaming though. Single player story based games are more my thing.

I do like the selection of great games that come with PS plus but the really popular stuff seems to mostly to be made up of games i either already own or will likely buy at some point anyway. The voucher i got was for the premium plan.

So anyway who's got PS plus and how satisfied are you?

@Truegamer79 It all really depends what you're looking for. Like you mentioned earlier you're more about single player games and most popular games you already have. Plus is required if you want to play with others online however you don't care for that so that's half the reason for getting Plus.

There are some great games that occasionally pop-up on Plus however it's generally a miss. If you have the Premium portion I personally don't think it's worth it since I didn't really utilize the older game selection and never used the trials aka. demos for games.

Right now I just have the extra which works for me as I get the additional monthly games plus I get to play with my cousin online.

Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

@Truegamer79 I'm like you, single player gamer through and through and have a tendency to buy games riiight before they show up on PS Plus. I subscribe to PS Plus Essential (that's the lowest tier, I can never remember the correct name, but think it's "Essential") for two reasons mainly: I have some friends on PS and very occasionally we will play online. Also, the free games added to my collection often lets me try some smaller games that would have otherwise passed me by, so I find some value in that. Also, I think the price is fair.

I've not tried Extra or Premium, but these kinds of subscriptions stresses me out, particularly when I know there is an unknown deadline for when I have to finish a given game before it disappears. I had Gamepass on PC for a while, but I ended up using it just to try out games and then buying the ones I liked, so it was, for me, a very expensive demo subscription I'm sure there are lots of money to save by using an extra/premium subscription properly and if my current purchased backlog drops below 50 massive 30-100 hour games, I'll reconsider, but until then I'm happy staying with the lowest tier

Yeah i don't know if premium is what I'll stick with. Seems kind of a waste since i don't really game online much. I'll see how it goes and might switch to essential.

I get a years worth of extra usually when it's in the black Friday sale or similar and personally find it great value for money over the course of a year. 3+ games a month (hit and miss but usually something worthwhile I wouldn't necessarily have bought otherwise) and a decent selection of single player games always available on extra to fill the gaps between big releases I want to pay for. I've never bothered with premium.

Haven’t been satisfied with PS Plus ever since i got into PC gaming 2 years ago, & haven’t re-subbed since (unless it was to get an exclusive ps plus skin for a character) . The more time went on the more useless & more of a scam I saw it. Most (popular) multiplayer games are free which bypasses a plus subscription anyway, and paying to use your own internet (for an inferior experience mind you) especially after already buying an expensive game is ridiculous. There is no reason for sony to charge for online play when the only thing that’s involved with it is, your internet, and the game developers servers .

same goes for MS & Nintendo .

I think it's a scam to be honest. If I didn't play online then it'd be worthless to me, and I resent having to pay to do that.

@Truegamer79 I almost never play online and yet I find PS+ (Extra tier) to be a great value regardless. It all depends on how many games you play, but the break even point is about 6 games per year from the service to make it worth the money just for access to the Extra and Essential catalogue. That’s assuming the cost of an average game on the service is $20, which is quite conservative as some are up to $60 games when they are dropped onto the service. I can look back last year and see 2-3 games from Plus that I played which were still selling for $60 when I played them “for free”, ie. no added cost, on Plus.

So it’s fairly easy to play 5-6 games from the library in a year, and then the rest of the the perks like: cloud saves, PS store discounts, PS+ skins and free upgrades in certain games, and of course online access - that’s all gravy at that point. Outside of cloud saves, I don’t use any of that online MP stuff, and yet I still get my money’s worth. I count 10 games I played within the past year that were either Essential or Extra games when I played them. I just quickly scanned and would say those games are roughly a $220 value. There was only one that got yanked from the service before I could finish it (Marvel Midnight Suns) and then one that I didn’t finish yet and don’t know if it will (Child of Light), but I basically finished/enjoyed all the others.

I also wait for a sale like Black Friday or Days of Play and stack my subs then and I can usually get a year for $120 or so.

I will say that the Premium tier doesn’t appeal to me because I don’t care for retro games and don’t care to try game trials or demos usually. So the added cost to be at Premium is not worth anything to me, but your mileage may vary.

If you’re the type of person who only plays 4-6 new games a year, or just a lot of F2P, or if you like to collect games, or if you tend to replay your games over and over, then just keep buying them. I still buy around 6 games a year — usually 2-3 new releases I’m hyped for, and then others I find on a steep sale or those I know will unlikely ever come to PS+ (like FromSoft’s games, or games that are really popular and evergreen)
