I know I'm not meant to say this but here goes... I'm really enjoying the new Battlefield. It definitely needs patches and a lot of balancing, but even so I'm having a blast and am struggling to understand why there's so much hate for this game online.

After a week of getting used to the massive maps, I actually like what they've done here. I think the problem is people are so used to legging it between sectors that if you try and do that here (without transport or the wingsuit) it is a major hike and not a lot happens on the way. But if you treat each zone almost like a self-enclosed map, it makes much more sense. I've had plenty of awesome matches where I stayed pretty much in one sector the entire time, and plenty of dull matches where I've spent the entire time running from point to point, seemingly always behind the action.

The specialists are fine. If I want to have a medkit, use a sniper rifle and a grappling hook, so be it. But I still play the objective and with my squad of randoms as best I can.

I've also had a fair few jaw dropping moments- the first time I fought in a sandstorm was epic, and truly one of those moments where I was like a kid again, lost in the magic of gaming. Ok maybe that last sentence was going a bit far. Whatever.

So my questions are- who else actively likes the direction this game has gone in? Am I one of about 3 people enjoying it, or is the online rhetoric a bit overblown (which would be a first...)?

im afraid to even look at BF 2042 lol. im afraid to even go near any more FPS games. call of duty, battlefield, anything. i went from "wow im pretty good, at least above average" back in my xbox 360 days, to "whoa.. i runnin a k/d of 1/8?! this cant be right!"

i've turned my attention back to single player games and co op. love co op. loved Left 4 Dead games. the latest, Back 4 Blood, is waaay too hard, needs serious balancing. but it pushes my skill to the limit, there's way more going on than in CoD or BF. i know they're both different genres,. but still both FPS games with very similar weapon/physics.

to answer the question.. no.. i dont like the direction FPS games are going. i dont like battle royal garbage, which used to be "king of the hill" years ago in FPS games, but just on way smaller maps. the last BF game i liked was BF2 and BF3. last CoD i liked was MW2 and maybe one of the black ops games. though i do like WW2 themed games, i was decent at CoD WW2, but the cheaters in there now.. even on console.. wow. it's just... too much. i deleted the game lol.

i also dont like the unwanted political agendas cropping up in games now, especially FPS games. i wont go into it, but... there are politics i DONT agree with and never will that is seeping into gaming now and i wont buy those franchises ever again. example: the last of us. first game was just "wow" for me to play. the level design was the star of the show for me, it felt like i was really on a journey some where. the quiet moments, characters talking, then suddenly all hell breaks loose. i hadnt played a game that enthralling since the very first Half-Life game in 1997. but the last of us part 2? nope. wont touch it. EVER.

The Nintendo Switch is the only console that predicts its own future... after 5 years of nothing but weaboo games, you're ready to switch to another console!
