@colonelkilgore Thanks for that information man, the game should be arriving on Wednesday. What are your str and dex levels? (Must be extremely high if you're literally one-shotting bosses?)
Edit: Do you also have a particular CGS that you use that is OP? If so, which one? it'd be great for a newbie to the game to know
@TheBrandedSwordsman š¤£ so I meant that I was taking most bosses down at my first attempt rather than felling them in one blow (I still have to hit them a fair bit in fairness).
Iām using the Royal Great Sword which has a Str, Dex and Int requirement of 26, 18 & 22. Think my skills are around 50, 20 and 30. I wouldnāt say this weapon is OP but Iām doing some good damage with itā¦ itās just super slow is all.
Canāt wait to hear your thoughts on the game pal, itās so good. The world and enemy variety are top-drawer and the legacy dungeons are frikkinā magnifique!
@Jimmer-jammer I'm at a similar position to you minus the epic diversion to Caelid. š Just exploring the north-east of Liurnia of the Lakes in a few sections I missed when I first got there. I've come across a "Eye of Sauron" type tower which inflicts madness. Which makes things interesting!
I'm about the same level as you but have played for about 98 hours. I played The Witcher 3 for roughly 400 hours without touching the DLC, so I wonder if I will get anywhere near that with Elden Ring.

Oops. I've really pissed Melina off.. am assuming some of you will know what I mean. Fortunately I did take a backup of my save data (benefit of playing on PC - I know you can do the same on PS Plus, but I don't think I'm actually that near the end game, just yet, on PS I'd terrified of that backup getting overwritten..) just before beating Morgott, and all I've really been doing since is exploring the capital's underbelly
@velio84 Sheās a great fight. Nothing as bad as isshin. Basically you need to be aggressive and not get hit. She heals when she hits even if you block. Also relates the annoying aoe move you dodge back, then back, then into her on the last move.
I beat it - after many tries - by using the mimic tear and melee, I basically tried to chain poise break her. Sheās got low health and can be poise broken/crit so do that.
@JohnnyShoulder 400 hours!? Thatās impressive. Think I could gladly sink that into Elden Ring over the next few years.
I just recently went through that area too. Some interesting stuff there. I keep thinking Iām done in Liurnia only to stumble across something new. As someone who loves meaningful exploration, this is the game that just keeps on giving!

@Jimmer-jammer I don't think it was over that long a period either. I had a few smaller breaks for a couple of days but generally only played it until I finished it.
I was thinking last night (as that is the best I can do at the moment, seeing as I'm not playing the game this weekend), I think I might struggle playing a more traditional Souls game after Elden Ring. It will definitely be a bit weird and jarring. Same sorta thing that happened when I played Breath of The Wild and any open world game I played after didn't feel right.

So Iāve done quite a bit of progress. After doing & exploring everything I could I went to the academy & beat Renalla.
For a good minute or two I literally had no idea how to get her down. The 2nd phase was stunning & wish it lasted longer. Iām clearly over levelled as I beat her with 3 charge attacks while she focused on the wolves.
Since then Iāve made my way up the mountain & through volcano manor. I did try & fight the fully grown beast about 10 times when I realised that I canāt really take it out & I could jump across. I donāt think Iāll do that fight until Iām lvl100 or so.

I've been watching a few walkthroughs of areas I've already been through, like Stormveil Castle as there were a few items I couldn't figure out how to get.
Learned a few interesting nik naks, for instance Gatekeeper Gostoc (the dude who warns you about using the main gate) will steal 30% of your runes if he is still alive after you die. I did wonder why that was happening in Stormveil Castle!
@JohnnyShoulder yeah that actually rings a bellā¦ I remember completing a corpse run and thinking that I dropped more runes than Iād picked up. All makes sense now.
Got my character to level 73, using a +6 winged scythe, it hits pretty hard! I did respec to make it work. Not sure how many times I'll be able to do that. Guessing the item needed is very limited. The weapon's special ability is pretty fun, leaping into the air and sweeping forward, it does some good damage.
@LieutenantFatman haven't seen that one yet. Sounds fun! Im level 72 as well. I have my moonviel maxed or at least i think its maxed. Still not able to beat that dam dragonfly boss though. Need to leave and come back at 90 and try again. Much still to do!
Anyone know if you can get a boss's rune back? I accidently used it for runes. I tried going to the giant bell walkers, but once inside it didn't offer me a rune to repeat/get back. Maybe I'm out of luck.
@LieutenantFatman I used that weapon's (even though I don't have high enough stats to use it properly) skill move to jump to a platform I could not reach in one of the mines. Whereabouts in the game are you?

I finally jumped aboard the Hype Train and am around 14 or so hours in.
I feel like I took a slightly unorthodox route to start with as I explored some of the area near to the main starting point, cleared Stormfoot catacombs and then headed over to the Church of Dragon Communion before then deciding to head south to the Weeping Peninsula, making it round to the minor Erdtree and Church of Pilgrimage (I avoided the castle on the peninsula for now).
Then I changed tack and went back to the Stormgate but ended up looping around to the Lake Facing Cliff and heading to Roundtable Hold, where I managed to beat the Mad Tongue fella. Went back to Stormveil and beat Margit.
Now I've made it through the castle (in a very different way to the guide on this site which I've written a lengthy post at the bottom of) and am on the verge of taking on Godrick.
@JohnnyShoulder Iāve been thinking about this too, especially as I swing back and forth between Bloodborne and Elden Ring as my favourite (because you know, these things really matter š). I really do love the freedom of ER but I look back so fondly on the tight experience of BB. Iām not so sure that the revelations slowly drip fed to the player would land the same way in a broader experience. At the end of the day, I guess thereās only one way to find out for sure. Perhaps I should complete that Dark Souls remastered run sooner rather than later.
Iām still chilling and eating magic mushrooms in Caelid. I loved the colour and atmosphere in Volcano Manor. I go back to previously visited spots and make new discoveries.
Donāt go too fast guys. The game is worth seeing everything the devs made for us to enjoy. Iām constantly amazed and stalling the main story discovering new stuff.
The crowd, accepting this immediately, assumed the anti-Eurasian posters and banners everywhere were the result of acts of sabotage by agents of Goldstein and ripped them from the walls.
