@velio84 What I love about this game is the varying curves in difficulty... in the same hour of play, I managed to beat Godrick during my first attempt - but I just could not get a grip on besting the tree sentinal at all!

I feel much more comfortable fighting on the ground (off-horse) which is not a playstyle which works for the sentinal I guess! In the end I summoned another player in to support we, and we took him down together... it was still close though! I was around level 25ish I think.

I was kicked off a cliff by a certain someone. This game is just so good.

@nessisonett The scoundrel that he is! 😂

@JohnnyShoulder very helpful, thanks!

Elden Ring is the biggest UK launch not including Call of Duty or FIFA games since Red Dead Redemption 2. That is insane for FROM.

The map expanded again! Also I’m pretty sure I joined the Nazis. And I came across a windmill village place and accidentally killed the boss first go without being hit. Considering the level I am and the rubbish armour I have, fairly certain I would have been killed in one hit.

Inspired by @nessisonett 's wanderings, last night I decided to pick a direction and see how far I could go. I ended up fighting a giant lobster to the death. Figures.

@velio84 I beat the Tree Sentinel last night before I set off on my adventure. My advice would be to pile a few levels into your stamina until you've got enough to sprint in, get your hit away and sprint out. Once you figure out the timing of when to start running in, it's not too bad, unless he goes mad and does a few surprise follow-up hits. It is an incredibly cowardly way of fighting him, however.

Good job, Parappa. You can go on to the next stage now.

@johncalmc Fully deserved as well. That has probably guaranteed a follow up, it's just a question of whether they'd want to do one. I just can't see how they could go back to linear world-building after this. I'm so glad I played the Demon's Souls remake first.

Good job, Parappa. You can go on to the next stage now.

@velio84 I beat the Tree Sentinel earlier and can mirror what Ral said to bring your horse to the fight. I also used my undead spirt summons, if only to distract it now and again. I then finished it off using Unsheath attacks and jump R2 attacks. The runes it dropped weren't that great i thought. One of the drawbacks of being over levelled.

I also took down the boss in Fringefolk Hero's Grave and did get some tidy rewards. That felt almost like a Bloodborne type boss. The dungeon is a bit of a nightmare at first, but once I sussed out the timings and figured out what to do it wasn't too bad. Not gone through it completely though as one phantom high upon a ledge with tornado and fire attacks I could nae get pass.

Lol I got a literal rust anchor drop, and its usable as a weapon - has like the worst moveset too which makes it funnier.

I finally went as far as I could go! Got to a fog door leading to The Capital I think and the boss inside is absolutely brutal. I did find 4 golden seeds just outside that area though which was pretty good. Back to the castle I go, I have a Nazi contract down in Limgrave to do anyway!

Finally got around to clearing Hogwarts, or whatever it's called. The magic school. The final boss fight of that dungeon was actually pretty neat, since there's a little bit of problem-solving in the first half. It's surreal and almost relaxing. Then phase 2 begins, and suddenly I'm fighting the Dark Souls equivalent of Bayonetta. wtf

Also upgraded my Uchigatana to +10 thanks to stuff I found in a crystal cave. Now I can make short work of those T-Rex dog things in Caelid. The crows are still intimidating, though.

@JohnnyShoulder Fringefolk Hero's Grave is probably a lot easier if you don't explore the entire thing for collectibles. Did you take the short route to the boss? There's a shortcut halfway through that leads almost directly to that boss door.

Jump attacks are actually really useful in this game. I love how the stagger meter changes up the focus a bit from the Bloodborne/Souls combat status quo. That was inherited from Sekiro, from what I've heard?

@Gremio108 First time I saw a giant crab I figured it was some field boss and high-tailed it out of there, but the things are actually surprisingly weak.

@Ralizah Yeah the crabs are a bit easier. It was a similar fight, in that you'll be fine as long as you avoid the massively-telegraphed grab attack. Which I didn't, of course.

Good job, Parappa. You can go on to the next stage now.

Got a genuinely ludicrous weapon there, a spinning spiked wheel on a stick. You can hold L2 to basically walk into enemies and chop them up with it 😂

I beat the Dragon in the Swamp. Not sure how anyone managed to do that sans horse. I had a slither of health left, no flasks and no horse. Then I almost died to a dragonfly lol. Now I can go to a certain somewhere and see what ability I can get. I kinda know which one I want.

@Ralizah Yeah I found the shortcut, quite by accident mind. There is a way to destroy the chariot thing, which is what I was trying to do before I gave up. That is very reminiscent of a boss fight in Dark Souls 2, except for that you fight in a colosseum.

All that exploring seems to have done the trick as I just beat Godrick first go 😅

Oh wow
It’s easy enough to find the fog to fight Godrick but there s a chance you can miss a lot of content. So after finding the summon hero I was exploring everywhere and came to an area you can see from afar when your near the place of grace.
A few jumps down and killing a few rats and bats I dropped again even lower in a swamp and there was the same giant lizard like boss I found at the starting area of the game using the stone sword. Killing it after a good fight gave me another stone sword key and a golden seed. Kept going and that brought me back to the stone sword fog near the lift where the spider was.
I just didn’t expect such large area you can easily miss in the castle.

The crowd, accepting this immediately, assumed the anti-Eurasian posters and banners everywhere were the result of acts of sabotage by agents of Goldstein and ripped them from the walls.

Ralizah

Gotta say, I think ER has the best horseback combat of any game I've played to date. I'm pretty much only on foot now when I want to sneak around or the game forces me to get off the horse.

@JohnnyShoulder Took me three resets before I was able to get one of the pots to land on the weird instadeath vehicle, lol. And I ended up getting some weird bow that I'll never use! Oh well, it's the journey that matters, not the destination, I suppose.

I’m starting to give into the hype. Promised myself not to buy anymore AAA games (including 1st party) until I get a PS5.

I’m thinking of picking it up, but I’ll be playing it on PS4Pro. How’s the performance guys?

Edit: Just seen the PS article. 30fps & lower resolution. Resolution doesn’t matter, but does the frame rate affect the experience too much?
