@render Yeah it currently has a 86 on both opencritic and metacritic. So it's getting positive reviews all around. I am not the biggest Harry Potter fan, but love open world games and especially those who are fantasy/magic based. I cant wait until it's tommorow to play this game.
@Lavalera I also love a good open world game so I’m really glad the exploration side of the game is good. I got lost of hours just wandering around in both Horizon games and Elden Ring. On the combat side it’s equally pleasing to hear that is also good as while I haven’t played too many magic focused games I have enjoyed using it in the various Fromsoft games. It’s hard to grasp quite how it’s going to play from the review so at least that will be a surprise.
Yeah, after reading the review I think I can wrap my head around the integration of heavy amounts of combat. A goblin uprising seems like a good enough excuse to have a multitude of magical battles.
I won’t be able to jump in right on release day, but I think I’ll pull the trigger soon and make this one of my launch games for 2023.
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
Just pulled the trigger on a pre-order on amazon. Think the combination of buzz together with reports of everywhere running out of stock worked to give me the nudge.
The comment section under the review is a mess lol. Absolutely embrassing.
Anyway, I didn't know early access was today, and the fact that early access is still a thing games do. Explains why the whole internet is filled with spoilers. Early access can die together with all the other terrible exploitative means that plague gaming.
Umming and arring what platform to get this on. I recently tried Forspoken on PS5 and thought the performance mode was really ugly, and the fidelity mode really choppy, so I grabbed it on PC to discover the port is so poorly optimised it runs worse on my PC than it does on PS5.
Kinda nervous that will happen here again as it seems like very few review codes have gone out for the PC version and the reviews of the port specifically haven't been great. This pushes me towards the PS5 version for reliabilities sake, but I also see the best you are going to get out of this is 30 fps at a dynamic resolution 4k target, or 60fps or higher at 1080p. Like... isn't that kinda yikes too?
I get this is an open world game, but surely I shouldn't have to be playing games on my PS5 in 1080p to get 60fps so early in it's life cycle? What am I paying all this extra money for PS5 versions of games for if they run the same as games did on the PS4 pro?
