So I've had my Ps5 for a couple of days (woo!) but I seem to having a couple of issues. Firstly, I have updated the system software to the latest (it reads 20.02-2.30.00.05-00.00.00.0.1 in the settings) and I also managed to update Astros Playroom to the latest version too.

However, I signed into PS network this morning and retrieved by old PS4 account and since then things are cropping up. I tried to update Mile Morales and Assassins Creed to their latest versions and any one of the following happens (when I press options on the game and "check for updates":

  • I get stuck on the "checking for updates, please wait" screen forever
  • I get sent to the "checking for updates, please wait" screen before getting the error "Something went wrong" with the error code CE-107938-8
  • I get sent to the "checking for updates, please wait" screen then it says "Update has been added to downloads etc." but there is nothing in my downloads.

In addition to this, when I tried to boot up Assassins creed, it either froze on the "press x to start" screen or kept asking me to join Ubisoft (either option either led to a frozen screen or a circular pattern of "press x to start" then back to the ubisoft screen). Either way, the game wouldn't start UNTIL I disconnected from the internet.

I should also say that before I signed into the PS network, both games were working fine with no problems. Anybody had this? Or know of any solution?

TIA!

@Total_Weirdo I think its all part of the same problem, but I just can't figure out what it doesn't like. That was my next plan, but hoping there might have been a simpler solution first. I'll give it a go and report back!

@Total_Weirdo Okay so I've tried both the database rebuild and the reset but neither have worked - I'm still getting these issues :/

@Total_Weirdo Okay, I've fixed it thanks to something I found online (sorry I tagged you @Total_Weirdo but just in case you're interested!). If anybody else finds this, then this is what worked for me:

If you can't be bothered to read that or watch the video, try this:
-Delete the game you want to update
-Take the disc out and restart your console
-Turn off internet connection then put the disc in and let it install COMPLETELY

  • Turn on internet connection and check for update. Wait for anything between 2 and 15 minutes (seriously, bear with it) and it'll update!
