Topic: LEGO Horizon

Fullstop, I adore everything about this game.
I think this has potential for greatness.
Everything about this trailer was so cute.
This will likely be a sleeper killer.
I honestly can’t wait. Probably getting it for my steam deck!
It’ll be really fun to not only have that portability but also share it via family share with my friends!

I might get this - I love Horizon and it looks very funny

@Yousef- weirdly, I think this is a better use for the Horizon brand than the main games. Hope it does well and they can go on to conquer all kinds of media too.

The IP is super strong, robot dinosaurs and tribes in a post distopian world, but sometimes the main line games can be a little drawn out to engage fully. In the first one you had to read all the data disks and listen to all the interviews to get a full sense of the lore, for example. But in Lego you will just run around and fight robo dinos without a care in the world.

I'm hoping that the anime (that's a confirmed thing, right?) does well too.

Hopping in here because I am sure it will be dead in NL for discussion. I am super hyped personally. I adore Horizon in general (which I didn't expect because I thought the combat would not mesh for me ...) but it will be nice to see Aloy having fun. Poor woman really works herself to death. I hope that it sales well enough to include Forbidden West (cuz I want Seyka in mah game!!!!) but either way this should be a fun romp. Lego games for me really depend on the brand (aside from lego city which was good) but there hasn't been much for me to play as I don't like the LucasArts franchises or DC. Getting on Switch as that is my primary system.

I’m in the same boat with @Ravix actually. I vibe super hard with tge IP but feel as if this might be a better direction for it, and I’m excited for the anime as well!!

As a general I agree Aloy is awesome. Partially why I wanted to play the games if not for some bad fatigue I’ve had from open world stuff. Will for sure give the series a second chance on day. I just wanna support Guerilla in general tbh.

I actually super super respect their decision to re-record and remocap stuff! It’s a commitment I respect. I don’t think it was essential, I’m in a weird boat where I don’t need remasters/remakes of some stuff but still generally don’t mind (and absolutely disagree with the mentality that if you elevate one, that means youre bringing down the other when in reality i just welcome different takes as a whole)

This is justifiable though given that at the time they were still figuring out the IP. Aloy’s VA is hilarious btw. I recommend looking into her old YT channel, she got some great skits.

I’m probably getting the remaster on steam though as I don’t regularly play stuff on my PlayStation 4 anymore and won’t get a ps5 methinks. To tie back into my point about remasters, dead rising is a great example. Love both the original and the remaster to death (heheh).

@Yousef- she's the best companion in The Outer Worlds, too. And has a surprisingly in depth emotional side story about being very awkward with relationships, bless her 😊

I might have to finally push on with Forbidden West if I get a pro, as I'll want to test it on something bloody spectacular looking. I just never got out of the first real tutorial area, kind of. I climbed a big bridge or something, maybe. I don't know why it didn't draw me in when I tried it. I played the first game in two seperate chunks with a year or more in between tbf, as I do with a lot of things 😅 but I love the world and character and lore that I had to dig out myself in the audio logs. It's like a better terminator 🤪

I got forbidden west collectors edition lying around but haven’t touched it cuz I mainly got it a silly tat that was probably gonna sell out soon but surprisingly as sat at a store’s glass shelf for several months so lol 🤪

@Yousef- Didn’t realize there would be an animated series. I may watch but my free time is non existent as is. The Horizon series is one of the few apocalyptic series that I enjoy. Likely because there is a sense of hope threading the entire thing.

As for the recent remasters I feel like this is a case of “making the game they wanted to make but didn’t have the tech for or budget at the time”. And the lower upgrade price is good. I’m mixed about the mocap as there is a really weird bit in HFW where it’s obvious the actress thought the take was done and she rolls her eyes and mumbles something that is obviously acting related. And it’s all still uncanny valley looking to me but the story and characters are what keep me invested.

Lmao I wasn’t aware of the mocap bit. Might have to look that one up.

If it is the Netflix show you are referring to, this is currently on hold due issues with the writer I believe.
