Topic: Movies/TV Gone from PS Store

I noticed today that you can no longer buy movies or TV seasons from Playstation. The “My Videos” app is available and past purchases are there, but I had to manually install the app. However, there is no way to add/buy new movies or TV episodes that I can see. If I go to the PS5 PS Store and search for media, I can find all sorts of movies, and each now lists the services I can buy them on (e.g. applies, stream on netflix/etc) - but none of them include buying from PlayStation to show up in “my videos”.

Seems crazy to silently get out of that business, and now I’m curious how long my existing “purchases” will stick around.

Well, from my personal point of view at least your previous purchases are still there for you to use as and when. I’m ‘super’ old school and must seem like some cerazzey old coot to you young ‘uns but I will always buy physical for as long as I can. If Sony or Microsoft were ever to give up the industry (god forbid) anything merely owned digitally will/would be a crap shoot.

This is not to say I NEVER buy digitally, sometimes the bargains are just too good but games get removed... and this is only going to become a more common occurrence as the industry ‘progresses’. I am currently quite enjoying The Wolf Among Us and thought, if I were to go for another Telltale game it would probably be GoT or Tales from the Borderlands. The latter is no longer available (presumably for ‘some’ licensing breach) but I would imagine (& correct me if I’m wrong... really I’d rather know the truth than ‘think’ I’m right) if you had already bought the game but deleted it from your hard drive, that you will never be able to redownload it and play it again.

As I said, I’m just super-wary of how this could all pan-out if one of the industry leaders were to fail (or merely if a game you really liked had a song for which the game had a time-sensitive license) but I won’t be surprised if some ‘messy’ situations start to crop up around this very situation moving forward.

Merry Christmas ✌️

@colonelkilgore Yea it just seems like a really weird thing and fairly unprofessional to quietly exit a whole business like that.
