@Thrillho @KilloWertz Sounds good to me, I look forward to experiencing better performance on PS5.

@KilloWertz Yeah I also wanted to go with one console this generation but I don't think that will happen. Xbox is just making too many shock waves across the industry to ignore them. So even though I'll most likely get a PS5 first, I'll probably get a Series X in the future as well. But that's when Xbox actually puts out compelling first-party content.

@Ryall Well, I'll just have to see if the PS5 Pro is for me or not when it actually gets announced.

@LtSarge It’s always hard to say with unannounced products that may or may not come out. What are your expectations for the PS5 pro?

I booted my PS5 up this morning, started playing Horizon, and about 15 minutes in, the console makes a brief high pitched scream, the screen turns blue, then black, then fades out, and the orange light on the console slowly fades off. It wouldn't turn back on. Went through self help online, then called tech support. Apparently a rare, but known issue, and I could send it away to get fixed with no timetable on the return.

But, I only bought it ten days ago, so I checked with my local Target and luckily they had three in stock. So, I bought another one, and returned the first one, and I'm now setting up PS5 #2. Hopefully my luck is better with this one! I feel both cursed and blessed at the same time.

I do think that I'm going to be very cautious with rest mode now, after reading that it can be a factor.

@Unlucky13 oh wow you really are unlucky. At first it took you ages to get one and then you have this bad luck. Happy for you you get a replacement so fast then. Let's hope you get more lucky with nr 2

Finally a serious breakdown of DRM on the 3 consoles that professional reporters should have done a long time ago.

The crowd, accepting this immediately, assumed the anti-Eurasian posters and banners everywhere were the result of acts of sabotage by agents of Goldstein and ripped them from the walls.

Unlucky13

@Lavalera @RogerRoger Thanks guys. Truly, if something is completely out of my hands, the odds are its going to go against me more than my fair share. Been that way since I was a kid.

My heart did sink when it wouldn't turn on. The PS4 has crashed a bunch of times. Sometimes turning itself off. And so that's what I thought happened there with the PS5 too. But it just wasn't coming back on no matter what. I'm glad that it happened early in the day on a Tuesday, when Target is most likely to have stock, and I'm glad that the thought of exchanging it given it was so new popped into my mind. Unlucky but lucky at the same time.

Now all that I'm out, other than my time and the gas to drive to the store, is my PS4 disc of Skyrim, which was stuck inside the machine. No way to get it out, and I know from past experience that if I sent it off to Sony, they wouldn't send it back to me anyways. Had that happen twice before.

Thankfully the PS5 saves all of the data to the cloud, so Horizon and Gran Turismo just needed to be reinstalled and they were good to go.

@Unlucky13 At least there's a bright side to look at!
Hopefully the new one has no issues ever.

@Unlucky13 At least it was Skyrim that got stuck in there, something that is replaceable for relatively cheap in comparison to Horizon Forbidden West and Gran Turismo 7. I've seen the Anniversary Edition of it for $30 fairly regularly on Amazon. Not sure what it is now.

As for the console, like others have said, it is time for you to have some good luck with consoles. I do think this one will be fine, especially since PS5's aren't faulty like back in the PS3/360 generation.

I honestly believe they have fixed Rest Mode for the most part. I haven't had any issues with it for a long time now, but I can understand being cautious given your experience with bad luck. Technically you don't have to use it much at all, and what I mainly use it for is to download stuff overnight or to suspend a game if I can't reach a save point before I have to quit for work. Many months ago I had an issue with rest mode and suspending a PS4 game I had on my external SSD (it refused to boot up, so I had to unplug it), but like I said, it always works fine for me now.

@Unlucky13 My heart sank when I read the first part of your post. What horrible luck. I’ve not had any major issues, but I know that they can strike anytime.

Glad you found a replacement and can carry on with enjoying the current gen without too much of a hiccup.

I sent my original PS3 away to be fixed twice when it had similar issues. The third time that it happened, Sony refused, even though I wanted to pay. I think that they were forcing people onto the models that couldn't play PS2 games any more. But thankfully the slim that I then bought has worked for 12 years with zero trouble, and my PS4 has worked for eight with only minor issues. Fingers crossed that this second PS5 is more like those.

I'm wondering if this gen will be longer than usual given the supply issues... Sure hope so, PS5 is an awesome piece of tech!

@RenanKJ My instinct would be yes, but we keep hearing about the idea of a PS5 Pro just around the corner, so who knows.

The other thing is that this generation came out of the gates swinging with good software titles much, much moreso than the last two. We're already getting a number of epic games, and if the developers can figure out how to maximize the system this early, does that mean that the latter years of the generation will just be epic? Or that they'll move onto newer hardware sooner?

My guess, given that we're 2/3 through year two is that it will be at least seven years.

Thrillho

@Unlucky13 Welcome to the exclusive club of PS5 heartbreak but at least yours lasted more than 24hrs and they could replace it with a new one!

I noticed yesterday that PS5 saves are backed up immediately to PS+. Kinda defeats the purpose since you can't restore your previous save when something goes wrong like you can with PS4 games that don't back up the saves while you're playing.

Anyone know if you can keep autosync for PS5 saves but have it only back up in the early morning hours when you're not playing?

@render Man oh man I've gotta be honest I haven't been as excited as I am for a game in a long time...I never cared how long the wait was I just wanted it to be as good as the first one I can't wait!!

@MaulTsir GoW 2018 was the first PS game that I actually bought on release. It was an odd decision really as I'd never played any of the previous games but watching the trailers the combat looked so slick and the production values were on another level that I couldn't wait to play it. I'm happy they've taken their time to absolutely nail the quality side of it and the fact that it's going to be here this year is just the icing on the cake!

Hey, anyone summit their info for a PS4 camera adaptor AFTER buying a PS5? Did you ever get your adaptor? How long did it take?
