@Th3solution yeah it happens with tv shows and films for the missus and I too. Probably even harder to land on something then actually… as we’re trying to decide on something that the two of us are happy with. We’re currently watching Westworld, so we’re set for a while… but once that’s done, we’ll be going through the drama all over again lol.
@colonelkilgore Hitman and Neir Automata (which is a game I have heard lots of good things about) is two games which comes to mind. Ohter then that maybe you would enjoy some role playing game like Final Fantasy or something similar.
@oliverp yeah Nier: Automata is actually a favourite game of mine… probably inside my all-time top 25. Hitman is a decent shout though… I’ve played the first one but I have 2 & 3 ready to go.
So I’ve actually made a decision… Tales of Arise it is. Having reacquainted myself with some of the reviews that circulated at its release, I’m pretty excited.
@Lavalera so I had a little blast on it this evening and yeah it might just end up what I was looking for. Early days obvs… but I like what I’m seeing.
@colonelkilgore Glad to hear that m8. The first half is also the strongest part imo. Some people have some problems with the way the strory goes in the end. Even though it isn't as strong as the first half I still loved that part. Especially the combat with the combo system was my favorite part.
Hope you keep enjoying it.
@colonelkilgore honestly it's a great game, there's alot of text and alot of talking skits that towards the end made alot of people fall off, but the combat is fantastic and the end game stuff is pretty cool, I think you'll enjoy mate and have that plat ready to pop after GoW Ragnarok of course
@Lavalera The main reasons why I never got the game after playing the demo was because of how cheesy some of the scenes are (even for JRPG standards), and then one of my two biggest issues with Yakuza: Like a Dragon are in Tales of Arise as well where there would be fully voiced cutscenes immediately followed by one where they grunt and talk via text. It just feels cheap, and obviously I found the useless sound effects they made to be annoying. I really wanted to like Tales of Arise from the demo, but it's especially hard to get past the two Yakuza: Like a Dragon issues I had with the game.

@KilloWertz The useless sound effects with the text I can fully understand, it doesn't bother me really though. The half speech/text thing is pretty common in jrpgs nowadays though, most of them have some form of mix between those 2. The only jrpgs I can think of which are fully voiced are some of the square ones like ff13, ff7r and 15, but those are big budget jrpgs and exceptions. So if you don't like the combination of text and speexh you're prolly gonna fall off of most jrpgs
@Lavalera Scarlet Nexus is another that's fully voiced. A good amount of it is talking headshots of the characters, but it's still fully voiced. Xenoblade Chronicles 1-3 on the Switch are voiced aside from the Affinity sequences. While you aren't wrong that a decent amount of JRPGs are the hybrid of voice and text, there's enough out there that do it the way they should too. I'm not sure why some developers think having them make noises or say things that have nothing to do with the conversation actually adds anything. I wouldn't mind reading so much if they didn't add that to them, as I understand some games don't get much of a budget. There's no excuse for a game like Yakuza: Like a Dragon though, which would have had a good enough budget.
It's not a genre I'm always playing as there's a lot of other genres to play, but again, there's enough out there that aren't annoying that I can stick with the genre overall.
I’ve recently subscribed to PS Plus Extra and took advantage of the 7 day trial. When the payment (£10.99) was due yesterday I forgot to transfer it from my savings into my account and I received an email from PlayStation about a problem processing the payment. I put the money in my account and went to manually pay it but there’s no option to. They still have not took payment but on my PlayStation account it says my subscription is covered till next month despite them not taking the money, there’s even an option to cancel my subscription and I’d still be covered for the full month. I don’t understand how this can be when they have not took payment?
@RogerRoger They finally took payment this morning so I don’t need to worry about the sub being cancelled but going forward I think I’ll be turning off auto-renewal and just pay it manually myself.
So… PS Stars is… a thing, I guess. 😒
I pulled up my Ps app for something else, forgetting that the Stars feature went live today, and I noticed immediately the little icon at the top. I was pretty excited to click on it and see the wonders of all the rewards I’d be accumulating. After clicking a quick “I agree” to the terms of service I was signed up quickly. And…
So far it looks pretty underwhelming. Perhaps that’s because I haven’t earned any points yet, but I did earn my first two “collectibles”. A T-Rex for playing a PS4/PS5 game, and a telescope for signing up I guess.
The whole system looks pretty cheesy, but I’ll withhold judgment, since all I really want is the free PS Store credit for earning trophies and spending money in the PS Store. Not sure if I need a whole other meta-game to pay attention to besides trophies. Now I have a PSN trophy level — 369, and a PS Stars level — 1. 😌

The collectibles are really weird. It feels like Sony wants to find a way to profit on the NFT fad without suffering from the significant backlash this would entail.
The way Microsoft Rewards and Game Pass Quests work is already almost perfect. Just copy that.

@NeonPizza sounds like you maybe saved stuff to the cloud. Before I got my PS5 I moved everything to a 4TB external and it was ready to go. You should definitely have a look if you have PS+. See what save data might be there!
@TOUGHDUDE94 No, you can play the PS4 games with your DualSense controller. You do have the option to use your DualShock 4, but you can also just use the PS5’s native pad.
