I played 60 games this year for a total of 821h.

My top five are:
Tetris effect connected 134h
Legend of heroes : Trails into Reverie 76h
Legend of heroes : Trails to Azure 62h
Grid legends 42h
Monochrome Morbius : Right and wrong forgotten 37h

I played 17 games this year for a total playtime of 613 hours. I guess I didn't play very many short games.

Mass Effect: Andromeda - 109 hours
Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana - 100 hours
Immortals Fenyx Rising - 87 hours
Final Fantasy XVI - 85 hours
Resident Evil 4 - 50 hours

301 trophies, 0 platinums, and a trophy level jump of 14 levels.

As usual my wrap-up buggered up and is partially wrong again (as it is every year) as it's somehow saying I played Dark Cloud for a grand total of 80 hours and earnt all the trophies for it... Despite the fact I earnt the plat for it well over 5 years ago

If anyones UK based I saw ASDA had disc ps5 copies of immortals of Aveum for £5. Cant see it ever being cheaper than that!

Astros Playroom is still the best PS5 excluisive and one of the greatest games of all time. legit haven’t been blown away by a technical spectacle in years before i played it

@nomither6 Hard to argue with that, actually. I don’t even like mascot platformers and I was in love with Astro’s Playroom.

Elder Scrolls Online in first, followed by Diablo 4 and the excellent fun Broforce in joint 2nd!

Been having a jolly good time with Death’s Door recently after my brief FC6 induced lull. I’ve actually found the difficulty pretty intimidating as I tend to take the cinematic action adventure option with games as of late, but when it clicked I really started to enjoy myself and even embrace death in big bold lovely typography and it turns out the game actually does involve all those things I love. I’m glad I reinstalled and had another run at it.

The art style, music and enemy variety are delightful and discovering new routes has been a pleasure. I dare say I might seek more of this out (including returning to Bloodborne)

Totally with you on that, Deaths Door is a gem. One of my favourite gaming experiences of this year - I enjoyed it so much that when I got all the PS5 trophies I immediately started a new game on the PS4 version. Glad it helped you recover your mojo.

@sorteddan Nice one ta, feels good to click with something after a wee wobble. I’m not sure I’ll be going to the same lengths as you mind 😂 pretty much given up on chasing trophies.

I just have to say, I think the “Continue Game” feature from the PS5 menu is so nice. I’m now at the point where I get annoyed if a game doesn’t support it and I have to cycle through all the splash screens and game menus until I can get to the gameplay.

@Th3solution Some people seem to almost take offence (for some reason) when I mentioned it before. A simple but really useful option I find.

@Th3solution I actually like it even more than rest mode just because rest mode is an unreliable feature. Sure it works for a while, but if you use it too much then the game will eventually crash and that sucks if it happens during a moment when you haven't saved in a while. Also because I prefer to keep my PS5 shut down just to preserve its longevity.

Well actually, there's no point in rest mode when you have the "Resume activity" feature as the PS5 boots up fast and with this feature, you'll resume from where you left off instantly. So yeah, it's such a useful feature. It's just such a shame that not all games have it.

@LtSarge Yeah I've used rest mode far less often this gen, only if in the middle of a game and not saved for a bit and I need to go away and do something. With how quickly it is getting back into a game and faster downloading of games, there is less use for Rest Mode.

@Th3solution Even after over 3 years it still impresses me that you can be in the game in under 10 seconds. Only problem I've come a cross is when I was playing The Medium and resuming the game would result in trophies not unlocking.

@Bentleyma Oh really? Wow, that stinks. I do wonder about the “resume activity” feature possibly not going back to the most recent save which could have had a collectible or something I checked off in the background, so I still try to save before quitting and then use the “continue game”, which just loads the most recent save, whether it be manual or auto.

I have yet to and will never use the resume activity feature. Besides being annoying that they forced it on us with an update, replacing the game art in the background with whatever image they want to use for said activity, there are potential pitfalls with it. I doubt it happens much at all, but I can imagine it taking you to a different point in the game than your last save as actually at, potentially overwriting your save file if a game autosaves frequently.

@KilloWertz Resuming activity is just a quick way to load up your last save. It can't just chuck you in a random place.

Frustrating that you can’t buy PS credit on Amazon with a gift card balance anymore. No clue what to spend it on and was going to use some on the sales in the PS Store but the discs are way more expensive on Amazon. Plus it means you essentially can’t buy Baldur’s Gate or Alan Wake using Amazon vouchers.
