Why's it got a speaker on the top? (Kidding I assume that's the venting for the fan?)
Looks pretty bad though to me. Aside from The Black Spot looks no different to an S right? I'm sure some people are gonna get a little confused with The Xbox One S and The Xbox Series S...
@Kidfried It's definitely strange. Until today I don't think Microsoft had even officially said the Series S was actually a thing, it was all rumours as far I was aware.
I noticed someone speculate it could be a careful leak by Microsoft as it also showed the Series X at $499 and they may have put it out to entice Sony to reveal their prices. But by only officially confirming the Series S and it's price, if Sony comes out and says the PS5 is $449 (just for example) they can lower the X price as they never confirmed the leaked one. All pure speculation of course and not sure I go along with it, but interesting all the same.
Seems like their marketing the series S at people with 4K TVs. 1440p and upscaling with 4K streaming media playback. Whilst it probably would’ve of been fine targeting 1080p and rendering to a quarter of a pixels of the series X. As it is when we start to get the more demanding NextGen games I worry that they’re going to try and run them at high resolution is to the detriment of frame rate and effects.
I don’t think we can read too much from the into the price of the full fat consoles. You can see from the form factor just how much less material went into making the series S.
Yeah I have no interest in the console and think it is a little bit pointless, which confuses things ever further especially for the general consumer who is not so tech savvy.
I suppose if people can't afford a SeX, this is a good alternative. It just basically replaces the one x, but with the fast ssd but less powah.
Having two consoles that are different in specs and making the same games for them both means that they'll be compromised on one console or the other.
Just hope this means Sony is going to announce something soon.
@JohnnyShoulder I’m not sure, these games are all getting released on PC anyway. You’ll probably find they’re just using say, medium graphics settings on this console and ultra on the Series X. Games that came out on PS4 looking great could also be played on PC on potato settings.
I still prefer PS5 machine design over than Xbox Series X/S.
PS5 has some 1st party that i have booked on my shopping list. (Astrobot Playroom, Ratchet & Clank: A Rift Apart so far)
@BearsEatBeets
Woah. 500gb only SSD. Didnt expect that.
It really sounds like a scam to me. It's all outdated in a couple years.🤷♂️
The crowd, accepting this immediately, assumed the anti-Eurasian posters and banners everywhere were the result of acts of sabotage by agents of Goldstein and ripped them from the walls.
Wonder how it will shake out in for MS in the end. Just seems like it will confuse things, and split sales. But we'll see.
Has there ever been a two tier approach in the console market before? I can't think of any.
@Anti-Matter Wii Sports got a physical copy because later models of the Wii didn't come with a free copy of Wii Sports.
Astro's Playroom is installed on the PS5 when you get it. Just like how The Playroom comes preinstalled on every PS4. There's no reason to release it as a physical copy.
On top of that, this game serves as an introduction to the DualSense controller. It's part game, part tech demo. They're not going to sell that in a store.
@Octane
Ow, okay..
So i will change a little bit my PS5 shopping list.
Astrobot Playroom will be registered as Free game with no physical just like Face Raiders on 3DS.
@Octane I thought you could only download small games onto the original Wii. Virtual console and minis that kind of stuff. Full-size games had to be run off a disk.
@Ryall The digital ecosystem on the Wii was weird. There were physical games, the ones you bought in a store, and there were the so-called WiiWare games. These were often small digital-only games that also lacked a physical release. AFAIK, no game released both on the Wii Shop as a WiiWare game and as a physical release at the same time (as you would expect in this day and age). There was a hard split between the two.
Wii Sports was definitely a regular physical game. You couldn't download it on the Wii.
