It’s comical at this point how silent Sony is being 😂 and after no shortage of content creators online (including even IGN) making predictions about Sony’s next showcase. While I did have some doubt this month we’d get one, it made a lot of sense to me given leaks about their projects and the fact that PS5 Pro kits have been shared with developers. Strange, but we will have to wait for that another time it seems, likely with a state of play soon to tide people over, at least a little.
Underwhelming, but oh well, it’s just a massive ad campaign at the end of the day. We will hear about the games eventually. Plus, there’s still Geoff’s show along with Xbox and Nintendo presentations. Sony’s time will come.
Yeah nothing is happening this month. We will probably get a few little things in Game Fest but nothing show wise from Sony until they officially announce the Pro probably September (ish).
@BearsEatBeets there’s still a chance today. Grubb and others have doubled down on an announcement coming this month. Sony is for sure cutting it close, but not out yet.
Not a great show overall but the Astro game looks amazing and that's good enough for me. I thought they showed a lot of it but the blog post says it has "over 80 levels", which sounds like a lot
Astro Bot trailer was a banger. I liked the action games shown as well. Concord… I think I just need to try it when it’s available. It was an okay show! Thank goodness for Team Asobi 😅
That was likely my last PlayStation livestream I'll ever watch. I felt like I wanted my 30 minutes back until Astro Bot came along. I still did, but at least there was one good 1st party game we didn't know about already.
I didn't really expect anything big, but still, it's ridiculous to continue watching these and continue to see nothing from so many of their 1st party developers. There should be no way at least some of them don't have something to reveal by now since it's been at least 3-5 years since a lot of them have released a new game. The only single player games we know about now are Astro Bot and Wolverine, and Insomniac has already released 3 new games on the PS5 to some developers' 0.
It was quite saddening to see the SoP miss the mark so tragically, with so little substance being brought to the table.
In my opinion, the most important KPI to achieve in these broadcasts is this - showing the fans "why you should be excited that you own a Playstation" (eg what is so great about being part of this ecosystem, and what can Playstation give you that other outlets cannot)
Between the chasing of live-service, radio-silence from key acquisitions, poor 2024 release schedule.... it just lacked spark/energy/excitement.
What are Housemarque (Returnal) and Bluepoint (DeS remake) up to exactly? Both of these acquisitions by Sony were excellent shouts (IMO) and I'd love to see what is coming next?
