Who else reckons Sony is waiting to announce tomorrow’s US lineup to coincide with the Bethesda/Xbox showcase tonight? Seems a great time to steal the attention.

If they are lets hope it includes some crackers!

If you don't like it, don't play it, and shut yo damn mouth

It does seem odd nothing has leaked yet. It will be a nice surprise. I'm mainly looking forward to Death Stranding and Miles. All other will be a bonus for now.

I'm thrilled that anyone 'sat on the fence' regarding Returnal will now get their chance to experience the brilliance of this game....! (assuming they sign up to PS-Extra of course)

@CJD87 Thats the main reason I'm signing up to it!

@CJD87 returnal is one of the main reasons I will be upgrading to extra but got to wait another 2 weeks here in the UK

I imagine it will be mostly the same stuff that launched in Japan (which is not bad at all), but then they should be adding a couple more games next week?

Guys... you are in for SUCH a ride! Undisputedly my 2021 'GOTY'.... and honestly no other game has left such an impact with me since.

I rushed the end of Elden Ring and blitzed the platinum quickly, just so I could play the additional Returnal DLC and get the new trophies!!

Enjoy and let me know your thoughts, it really is awesome - nowhere near as punishing as some reviews would have you believe (especially now since they patched a 'pause'/suspend feature)

I'll be very happy to upgrade to Premium at least for a few months. There's a ton of PS3 games on the list that I skipped and wanted to go back to (a bunch Ratchet & Clank and inFamous 1 & 2 to start).

@CJD87 The inability to pause or save and quit is what basically put me off in the first place so I'm really looking forward to playing this and also trying out the co-op feature!

@Voltan I missed a load of PS3 games too seeing as I did not have the console, but they would need be played natively instead of streaming as part of the service for me to pony up.

Apparently that is being worked on, but is proving problematic, especially with third party games as the majority of them handled the Cell processor uniquely.

Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

It’s kinda cool seeing the old games pop up on the PS store like Siphon Filter, Echochrome, and Abe’s Oddysee.

I have about 9 mon left on my Plus sub, and so I just entered the new PS+ page and clicked on the Extra and Premium options and it automatically calculated my prorated fee to upgrade, which is only $24 for Extra and $42 for Premium for the reminder of my time.

I don’t know. There’s just not anything that I’m going to play right away in either library. A few look tempting, but I can’t justify even a nominal $20 for something I’m not yet going to use. I’ll possibly upgrade later… but the games I want to play on the service I already own and the other good games I already played. There just isn’t anything to sell me right now. Maybe later.

I also wonder if CD Keys is going to come through for heavy subscription discounts, or maybe Black Friday.

@Th3solution looks like ShopTo (UK) where I would normally buy heavily discounted subs during the sale period are handling subs a little differently now.

You can still buy a discounted 12 month sub but will receive £50 store credit to spend on a sub instead of the actual sub itself.

Not sure if this will come to apply to all retailers or even if it will apply worldwide.

See ya!

@Voltan I would have upgraded yesterday already for the PS3 lineup alone if it wasn't for the fact that you have to stream them still. Like you, there are a few Ratchet & Clank games I missed along with Infamous 2. Streaming a game is not really a viable option for me, so I will likely just put the money towards getting another PS3 instead.

@KilloWertz I'm willing to check out the streaming. My internet connection is pretty good so hopefully it's not effed up on their side
I've heard about it working great for some people and not so great for others - but it wasn't available in my region before so I'll have to find out myself.

After looking at the whole list, I feel psplus extra/premium will be most valuable for gamers like me. I no longer have time to play much, family, job, house maintenance etc.. I usually get to maybe 5 games a year, probably closer to 4. I can do quick games like my goto SWBF2, but full new games roughly 4 a year. This list gives me so many I wanted to play and didn't have time for. At a quick glance, Miles, Red dead 2, nba2k22, and Southpark games to name a few. I just started Death Stranding directors cut. For those that game all the time I don't see as much value for them as they have played most of the big games, maybe the old games will be a bonus for them. The only real old games I can think of that I may still enjoy were ps2 Champions of Norrath games. Hopefully they come down the road. In the mean time, so much to play at a great grandfathered value of psnow for a year.

I am going to upgrade to premium for sure. I missed out on a lot of games since i mostly played mmorpg in the past and this generation i started console gaming. I played a few single player games in the past like Skyrim and Witcher 3 and such, but those were more exceptions. There are still a lot of ps first party games i have to play, some of which i bought on sale, but i still have a large amount to go through. Miles Morales, Death Stranding & Returnal are a few which are on ps plus which i havent played yet.
Outside of those first party games ive been a lot into JRPG recently and there is an interesting list of JRPG games that were on my wishlist to buy on sale already but i can now play with the ps plus. Seeing i also get to play some older games like Trials in the sky, for me ps plus premium can save me a lot of money having to buy all those games.

@Elodin I actually ran my numbers, trying to do an analysis of whether it would make sense for me, and I play about 20 games a year, and spend an average of $300-400 a year on games. A few that I’ve bought and played last two years are now on the service like Demon’s Souls, Returnal, Miles Morales, and Ghost of Tsushima.
When I look at the value proposition of playing all those for an annual fee of an extra $50 per year, it’s tempting. But like you say, for people like me, it’s too late — I’ve already played the best of the collection. The games left over which I have any interest in are smaller games, and those that I probably will never get to because I have a big backlog.

That cat game Stray might be a motivator, if it’s highly regarded and I feel like I really need to play it this year, then I’ll upgrade to $20 rather than buy the game for probably $40. But as a dog person I doubt I’ll feel pressed to play it. 😅

The other game is AC Valhalla, where the cost of the game is roughly the same as just subscribing, and I do eventually want to play it, but I wasn’t planning on it right now so it can wait. And it is a game that will take me
A couple months to complete most likely, so is probably a better purchase rather than play through a service that might pull the game later.

Elodin

@Th3solution AC Valhalla is fun. That reminds me I have to finish that game. Hopefully Sony adds more Day 1 games, then it might entice gamers like you.

Elodin

Th3solution

@Elodin It’s a pretty good get for PS Plus to have Valhalla, since it’s still relevant. Obviously they are hoping to sell DLC through more people playing it, but it’s still a nice inclusion.
I have Odyssey yet to play, so it will probably just need to be after I complete that.
