@phil_j That makes a lot of sense actually. I didn’t even realise there was an online aspect. I barely have enough ether so don’t want to waste it on cleansing items.

Plumbing’s just Lego innit. Water Lego.

Hmm.. biome 4 has been my first roadblock. I just can't get a run together at all; I think the furthest I've got has been picking up one key.

@render As for your point, the difficulty is fine for me (despite my current frustrations) but it does feel like you have to have a bit too much luck to string a good run together. I would definitely appreciate more save opportunities though. I've been lucky that I'm not working this week but most of my gaming time is short blasts in the evening; if I'd been on a run like I had earlier today, I would have had to abandon it eventually.

I think one of the problems with having more regular save points in a game like this is that it can be abused with sace scumming, which is probably one the reasons Housemarque has been reluctant to patch it in.

I've not played the game however, so I fully expect to be saying the complete opposite this time next week!

Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.

@Voltan That’s a relief about the trophies. They do seem to be quite inconsistent as to if you get them or not. I think I’ve got all of the ones I’m supposed to have at this point however I don’t want to look at the hidden ones just in case I spoil it for myself.

@phil_j That’s a very good point as I did quite well out of that the one night it seemed to work. I sometimes find myself with quite a bit of ether and then other times hardly any so again you just have to hope the game throws some at you.

@Thrillho Similar here. I can’t really leave it on rest mode as other family members use it and then it’s just what time I have in the evenings when the kids are in bed. Sometimes I may push it out a bit at the weekends and pay for it the next day.

Beat biome 5 just now, after being stuck for days. Feels so good. Think I nearly made it to the boss on 6, but succumbed after grabbing the key.

@render biome 4 seems to have loads of ether, so I've found doing a few ether grabbing runs to stock up for a proper attempt works well.

Yesss! Had my third encounter with Ixion, and beat him this time

@Thrillho - your advice about how to deal with the swooping made a huge difference, thanks.

Looking forward to exploring the first two biomes again now ...

@JigsawPieces you’ll be able to skip Crimson Wastes entirely now. With the grapple you can go to the Citadel straight from the Ruins. Just need to find the gate.

@JigsawPieces Good work! That third part is a toughie but doable with enough health in the bank.

As for me, it was sod's law that the run after posting about my biome 4 struggles I got a great run and took out the boss first time.

And what a fight! I love how the music built up as you ascend the spire and carries on through the first part before changing for the rest

The portal ability on the gun I had made such a difference, particularly in the boss fight. The item that gives you health with attack is ideal for boss fights when you're using such a gun too (as you can see in the vid as it shoots back up when I use it).

@phil_j it certainly does. I used it to reasonable affect tonight as I got the parasite that gives you protection per ether.

Didn’t completely save me in the end though. Ended up eating through 3 large health packs before and after grabbing the key in biome 6. Got to meet the big boss man and boy did he seem angry for some reason. Beat the living daylights out of me even with the fully loaded hollowseeker with portal beam. I did manage to get him 1 1/2 bars down though so I can possibly do this.

@Thrillho Great work yet again. I think you are making up for all the style that I’m sadly missing. I’m like the guy that’s just grabbing things from behind him and lobbing them in the general direction in the hope that something hits home.

@Voltan Have you had a look into the discussion article since finishing Act 3? I wondered if you thought it was safe to read after finishing Act 2 or if you'd suggest waiting until Act 3 complete as well?

Going back to the difficulty discussion, the reason I asked what others thought was because personally I'm kind of glad that it didn't have the option to dial that down. I try and play most things on the hardest difficulty but if I'm making no progress then I will usually take it down a level. With Returnal I've not had that option so have just had to push on through and have become really invested in it because of that. I can think of a few people that wouldn't want to do that though as that's not their thing and would just be purely in it for the story, and there's the other argument of people who physically can't play this game because of a disability. It's a really tough call to make either way.

Scratchy_Seal

@Voltan congrats man! I just did a lovely 2 hour run exploring biomes 4,5 and 6 finishing with 300% integrity but still didn’t find what I was looking for in biome 6. I know I missed one optional room but by the time I realised it was so far away I just though “surely it can’t be in there”... so not sure how many house sequences and where that last item is! Argh

@Abarth_71 I definitely feel that biome 5 is the most difficult personally. The drones, oh the drones.

@Abarth_71 I purposely missed B5 last night because of that same scenario. I'd got some reasonable stuff on 4 and didn't want to loose it all thinking that I could probably cleanse my way to some good items in 6. I partly managed that but I was torn between using my ether for that or saving it so that the item that gives you protection per ether worked effectively. There's some good bonus rooms on 6 if you are willing to take your chances with the lasers.

Voltan

@render I’d beat Act 3 first. There’s not a lot of story in it but it seems pretty significant.

Voltan

Voltan

@Scratchy_Seal The last one should be just off the main path and it’s fairly hard to miss but I guess it won’t be there in every run (wasn’t for me either).
