On the latest version 1.3.7, just got a crash in the Crimson Wastes biome, while fast teleporting over & down the mountain (animation with the blue ball and tail streak flying through the sky). The game just got stuck in the middle of the sky, and I could not pause the game, or go to my map. Put the game in rest mode, then returned, but the game was still hung.

Ironically I'm not even mad, but only because my good run was being ruined by crippling malfunctions, and I was going to restart anyway. I'd like to say all of the malfunctions crashed my game. I'm just worried something like this will happen again, when it matters. Thankfully, I've already beaten the game, so it wouldn't be the end of the world...but still.

Deleted the game, rebooted, and reinstalled ...

Another crash... Wish I had stick with 1.3.6

@JohnnyShoulder Those deceased Scouts are a great mechanic, they are all big bad MFs. The most annoying ones are those that just sprout tentacles without warning 🤣.

@eagletrippin Bad luck. I think you are the first person I’ve seen complain of crashes with this latest update.

Scratchy_Seal

@render @eagletrippin interestingly I had a door/portal glitch after the update so clearly that one isn’t completely ironed out!

@JigsawPieces yeah first time I reached that boss I genuinely thought this is it for me, I’ve hit the wall but it’s surprising how much easier they become once you know the phases. A ton of integrity and auto-repair doesn’t go amiss too though I guess!

Not sure if this is a bug or it is meant to be like it, but I was in the mountain temple in Crimson Wastes and got caught by two tentacle things that hang from the ceiling, but they were invisible! Only in one room and quite close to each other. Hopefully it is a bug as I'm not sure if I could cope with invisible grabby tentacle things from the ceiling!

Voltan

@JohnnyShoulder Yeah, that's a known issue. Not very common and pretty harmless but happened to me 2-3 times as well.

@render Omg, after beating the game, I turned online connectivity on, and encountered my first Deceased Scout. Left the room, then came back to clear the room of salvage. Walked up to the Scout and noticed it all of the sudden had tentacles??? My wife was talking to me at the time, and when that Scout popped up and became a hostile, I jumped back and gave a big "Oh sh*t!!! WTF?!"😂 That thing scared the living crap out of me and took years off my life, and a quarter of my integrity!

@eagletrippin Those ones are the best, no warning just all of a sudden they get you. I’ve had it happen on me a few times and I’m never ready. Bet your wife loved you for that!🤣

On the subject of wives mine has now advanced past Phrike and into Crimson Wastes. I don’t think she’s ever been so pleased with herself or relieved. There’s a good chance she will get the platinum before me as she has managed to pick up scout log #9 at some point.

@render Kudos to you for landing a wife gamer! I've gotten my wife to play Astro's Playroom, and she was very proud of beating the game 😂 Ratchet & Clank was far too complicated for her. Now, she is simply a formidable opponent in Crash Team Racing 😂

And your wife beating Phrike is a huge achievement. I'm not great, so it took me probably 8-10 tries to beat him 😡 Although now I can beat him easily and hardly take any damage.

@Voltan Ah cool, cheers. As long as it is not me going insaner.

@eagletrippin @render Yep, that happened to me. Everytime I go past a scout, for a a brief second I'm tempted to avenge one again, then I'm like 'Hell no!'.

Just fought Ixiom and got him down to his third stage twice. I was actually dreading the fight before I even got there as the music got super foreboding. Brilliant though as it just added to already excellent atmosphere. The mountain temple has been my favourite section so far, really enjoyed playing throught it today.

@eagletrippin Cheers, yeah she’s got way more into it than I ever imagined. We’ve not got CTR but in Crash Bandicoot she can usually make me look like an amateur. Even the kids like to remind me that I’m bad at that 🤣.

It’s great to have someone who appreciates this hobby though, if you can call it that. And hours playing most games are a shared experience which makes it more sociable. Although I do think she was itching to play tonight but I got on a roll and played through 4 - 6 to try and tidy up some cyphers.

Annoyingly got all the cyphers in 5 and the trophy didn’t pop as looks like I’m missing scout log #47. I’m also missing a cypher in 6 so will have to try again. I did go back to 1 and just kept restarting and after about 10 goes of just running through the first few doors I got... that’s right scout log #9 🥳.

@JohnnyShoulder Forgot to say well done for making some progress. I find Ixiom tough and always take more damage than I think I will.

Thrillho

@JohnnyShoulder After a few goes at Ixiom, I found that the first two parts are actually quite predictable and in my video on the successful run, I didn’t get hit in those bits. The third part is tough but much easier if you have that health in the bank!

If you get there and don’t succeed again, try taking a vid of your fight. I found it useful to see where I was messing up but when everything gets overwhelming, it’s easy for all your plans to go out the window! Some of my tips are turn down the music so you can focus and pause the game briefly between each part of the fight to recompose yourself.

Good luck!

Got to Ophion at 2:30am and didn't have enough consumables to keep me alive long but I know what to expect next time.

@render @Thrillho Cheers guys, that is very helpful. I get through the first two stages quite easily but third just destroys me!

To add some general tips for boss fights, my best one is to make sure you've gone to toilet before! If find if I'm dying to go during a boss fight, my concentration levels go down a few levels. And have at least one large health vial as that is like having an extra life if used at the right time.

@velio84 Hopefully the same here or through the week, If I don't play later on. The run to that key though was pretty intense. Probably would have beat him if I'd kept my astronaut and health vials.

@MightyDemon82 @velio84 Well done guys, sounds like you are almost there. I can totally recommend a hollowseeker with portal beam or portal turret for the Abysal Scar. Also if you can find one of those jelly fish things that keep spawning the squid things then you can easily level up to 30 if you just keep shooting them down. Then you can hopefully go on and find a level 30 weapon and even better if a hollowseeker.

@render Thanks man, I had a low level one with portal turret that I found in biome 4 for that last run. I ended up not being able to pick up any more weapons before the final boss, I gave it a shot anyway. Still a fantastic game and I'd recommend it to anyone.

I finally picked up the game after considering it for a couple of weeks. Still in the first area - I keep dying on my way to find whatever it is I need to unlock the red barriers. I feel like I get a room closer each time though which feels like progress. The game looks and sounds really good and the controls feel incredibly responsive. I can see why people have got hooked on the gameplay loop!

On the point of having some kind of way to save and resume - fortunately I'm the only person who plays my PS5 so I don't have a lot of the issues with the lack of this feature that some do. However I do tend to have a couple of games on rotation at any time. It's not a deal breaker but equally I do hope we get something like this relatively soon.
