Searched and couldn't find any Stellar Blades threads which is kind of sad b/c it's a good game, though not without it's little annoying nonsense.

Anyway my kid just caught up to me in gameplay after being hours behind, because they missed a chunk of game that you can only get upon a certain completion, and it's not like there is a choice it's either forced upon you or it isn't, that is required to get the "better ending". And of course this game thinks it's 1997 so there is only 1 save file which saves automatically, which is total garbage as there is a lot going on in the game, it's similar to Horizon or Ghost of Tsushima though linear not open world, so you can't load another save file, even though the start page has the word LOAD right there, so you'd think there would be several automatic save files like a well made game would have but it's just one which sometimes saves automatically.

So now my kid isn't playing anymore, they're sick and spent the day in bed and we had to blow off a day at the beach so they were already having a bad day, basically because of the lack of save files.

So if you want the better ending, don't go past the point of no return unless you know your character affinity with another character has reached 100%. Which as far as anyone can tell you can't actually know. I've been playing the game literally for 40 hours and I didn't even know there was such a thing. But you have to be at 100%, and there is no one specific way to get there, just have to accumulate enough relationship points to reach 100%, it isn't mission dependent or anything. Just plain stupid. Nothing a few save points couldn't solve. It's 2024, every game should have at least 3 save files to mess around with.

You've been warned, hopefully not spoiled too much. I've learned my lesson, I'm never again playing a game with only 1 save file, life is too short for such bad programming. 😝

And yes we know cloud saves, but we aren't paying Sony those ridiculous prices to back up our file when the PS4 let's you use a thumbdrive and Xbox is free. PS5 SSD has plenty of space for 3 save files per game.

Replying to myself b/c apparently there are multiple endings and once again b/c of the lack of separate save files once you make your choice you can only get 1 ending WITHOUT HAVING TO START THE ENTIRE GAME ALL OVER AGAIN.🤪
