I got an external drive and I want to use it to backup the games I have on my backlog and transfer them to my PS5 when I get it... I understand Sony has said games and safe files would be transferable through external drives... However, I can't find info on whether they've detailed the process. I see that on the PS4 there's the option of formatting the drive as external storage or an option to use it as a backup for the whole PS4. Not sure which option would one need to use to be able to transfer the files to PS5 without redownloading
@DualWielding You need a dedicated drive for save files, you can't use the same one that you have for storing games. Or if you have PS Plus, you can back saves to the cloud and download them to your PS5. You can also transfer everything over by connecting both consoles via LAN cable or WiFi.
