With rumors starting to float about that Twisted Metal, Wipeout and Sly Cooper are all in development for PS5, I thought it would be fun to ask what you guys are wanting to see released on the newer platform? Sony has been very quiet. I'd argue... too quiet. Their lack of communication is a bit frustrating but perhaps we're simply playing catch up given how early they used to announce games.
Not going to put a specific number of games you need to come up with, but what are some games, either first or third party, that you'd love to see come to the PS5 over the next few years? Here's some of my top wishes...
Uncharted - I'm sure this is no surprise given my avatar. Uncharted is my favorite series and I'd love to see it continue on PS5. The 4th game does a really good job of tying things up and putting Nate and Elena in a good place. There are a number of things they could do with the series; even getting Nate back as the main character without ruining the ending of the 4th. There's been rumors floating around for years that a new one is in the works at a studio other than Naughty Dog. Time will tell.
Warhawk - The PS3 game was fantastic. I still consider it the only game (even outside of Playstation) to have done motion controls right. Flying a warhawk with a SixAxis felt great and it was really responsive. Then you could turn motion controls off for ground vehicles which gave the perfect balance. I'd love to see either the PS3 game or a new game based on it released on PS5 but add in a single player campaign. Keep the WWII aesthetic with the jeeps and tanks as well. The ground play was fun as well.
Dino Crisis - While there's a similar type game in the works via Instinction that I plan to get, I'd love to see Capcom reboot the Dino Crisis series and have Regina make a come back. Mix the gameplay style of suspense and action of the first and second games. Ignore the third game ever existed. Use the RE engine from RE2 and 3 Remakes. It would be a slam dunk and I think Capcom are fools for not implementing it yet.
Ninja Turtles - Shredder's Revenge is just around the corner and I think it's going to be spot on with the old school games and co-op action. That said, I want a dark and gritty single player game that's closer to the original comics. Make the guys look like their 90's versions. Have it be "realistic" graphics. Different viewpoints of the story depending on which Turtle you play as. Maybe add some online co-op in some fashion but focus on the story. At the very least, drop the kiddy feeling that's both helped and hindered the series.
Shenmue IV - Seriously, I really want to see this series get a video game ending. Let Yu Suzuki finish the series with the 4th. Put it on PS4 and 5. Use the same engine as the third game; nothing too fancy. Expand on it as needed. Get it finished. Get it to the fans. If this doesn't happen, the only ending we're going to get is that of the upcoming anime. It's something... but it's not how the fans wanted to cross the finish line.
The Witcher trilogy - With the third game being touched up for PS5 I'd love to have the first two remade in the third's engine and have the whole story playable at it's best on the new gen. Plus it would be a much easier job than developing a new game and allow CD Project to generate some income and improve their rep whilst trying to do a No Man's Sky job on Cyberpunk and get that to a state where people might start to be interested in a sequel.
Red Dead Redemption Remake - update it to the new engine/world of the sequel/prequel. This seems like such a no-brainer to me. They have done a big chunk of the work already with the second game and would be easy money for Rockstar. Hopefully there is a reasonable chance for this one.
X-Com 3 - love the series and I'm ready for the next installment. I'm definitely interested in this rumoured Marvel take on this but also think a version of this game in the Mass Effect world would be outstanding. Imagine building up a squad of Asari commandos, Krogan and Turian soldiers and sending them on missions. You could be taking on missions that are going on in the systems during the Reaper war in 3.
On the subject of Mass Effect I'd love a game of this style made by one of Sony's premier studios (mainly Naughty Dog or Santa Monica). One with true impactful choices, a Space epic with their cinematic flair and artistic excellence.
Also with you @Telekill on the Dino Crisis remake in the RE2 and 3 mold.
Of course I still hold out hope Bioware can pull together and make their best work going forward with the next Dragon Age and Mass Effect.
I’d love some kind of LoK: Soul Reaver remake/reboot. It probably would have to be more than just a Demon’s Souls style presentation update (it’s an old ass game, the gameplay probably aged quite a bit) but I could see it sharing some of the original’s writing, which was amazing.
A proper LA Noire follow-up, whether that’s from the original studio or as a spiritual successor. There aren’t enough detective games in that mould and it would be very cool to see one done on the PS5 with the bump in power.
@Th3solution - I fully agree on The Order getting a sequel. They really need co-op in it though. I believe it originally was supposed to have that but it was axed for some reason.
The next Tomb Raider is confirmed in development and will bridge the gap between the latest trilogy of games and the original timeline where she's the Tomb Raider. Hoping for dual uzis.
Uncharted 5 is only a rumor at this point unfortunately. One I really want to see happen, but I have my doubts.
@Telekill Thanks, bud. Yeah I need to switch places with UC5 and TR in my list. I thought I’d heard confirmation of someone doing a UC game, but maybe I’m just remembering that situation with Sony Bend studio and apparently now they are doing another project that “they are excited and passionate about.” 😄
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
Twisted Metal easily . if it were to happen , it would be the first time in a while that i would be genuinely excited about a game. i havent had that feeling since either the CTR remake or SSBU , so roughly 2 years and a half.
The amount of things they could add to a modern twisted metal and how much they could improve on is insane - if its done right , id expect it to be no less than 100 gigs . the amount of cars whether they're made-up or licensed & cars that could act like a boat and shoot on water , bring helicopters back , character and car customizations (even a create-a-car and character ) , integrated music playlists , map creator and editor , a battle-royale mode , tournaments , team-battles , races again , environmental destruction and running people over , cop chases/battles , campaign co-op online or offline, etc etc .
so much they could do . but if its true , and i see a ''T'' rating , im gonna be immediately p**sed .
@colonelkilgore Yeah early days still as it is not due out until 2023 apparently, so a bit early to be properly invested in it for me. But one to keep an eye one, fo sure.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
Persona 6 (this is the only game I feel comfortable is actually happening)
A definitive edition of Persona 3
A new MegaTen spinoff from Atlus like DDS
Gravity Rush 3 (not happening, but I can dream)
Legend of Dragoon remake
Metal Gear Solid remake
Dino Crisis remakes
A proper Silent Hill sequel (but I'd happily take a good remake of the first game, or even just a non-botched remaster of the PS2 games)
A proper Final Fantasy sequel (basically, something like FF7 Remake, but for mainline: action/menu-based fusion combat, loveable characters, a party system, and a similar vibe to older games in the series)
Games in development that I absolutely will buy when they come out:
Horizon: Forbidden West
Gran Turismo 7
Dragon Age 4
Mass Effect 5
Final Fantasy 16
Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Part 2
Games that are rumored to be in development at some level:
The Witcher 4
Jedi: Fallen Order sequel
Assassins Creed game other than Infinity (Single player, offline)
Games that I have no reason to believe are being made, but that I would love to have:
Final Fantasy 6 remake with contemporary graphics, and DA:Inq style gameplay
An Elder Scrolls/Skyrim type of game on the PS5 (obviously by someone other than Bethesda)
A NFL game made by someone other than EA that focuses on offline, single player Franchise Mode
A college football game of the same variety
