So this isn't for rumors or confirmed titles, this here is for dreams. What game or games if announced, what convince you to buy a PS5? If you're already planning on getting on anyhow, then what games would make just throwing money at the screen? Let us dream now before we have facts.
I'll start, so a couple of games that come to mind are Persona 5-2 or Persona 6. I can't get enough of Persona 5, so I'd love a direct sequel. Heck, A Persona 5: Velvet or Gold or whatever would make me throw money at the screen even.
Bloodborne 2 would make me jump through the roof as well. I'd love to return to that perfect atmosphere.
A new proper AC game that's a real AC game would get me excited, but only a game that's much more a part of the series than in name only.
FFXV-2. I'd need to be convinced by FFXVI, though that could get me with a good trailer. FFXV-2 would get me in an instant though.
That's my first thoughts. If any of those show up at the PS5 reveal, I'll be dancing for sure.
I've never bought a console at launch, waited around two years before I bought the PS2. Same for the PS3 as well. As for the PS4 I think I bought it around eighteen months after it was launched.
Having said that, I think would buy a PS5 if it had Monster Hunter: World 2 and if it was only on next gen consoles.
🤔🤔 that's a tuff one to be honest sure I could rime off a list but for me I'd love to see a new resistance game or even a motorstorm game . Not that either are possible and I intend to buy a ps5 regardless
We now know its in production. If that released for ps5 I would buy it on release day with the ps5 no questions asked.
Other games I would like to see.
Final Fantasy 15 - remaster and goty edition.
Rocket League 2
Horizon zero Dawn 2
Man what a great topic. If all 4 of those games were announced I would cry like a man baby.

Multiplat 2015: Final Fantasy 7
Final Fantasy, yeah i know it's mutliplatform now BUT i have always played it on PlayStation and it just feels strange to play on other systems, not to mention there is more chance of a FF game coming to PS than other systems
seriously i go where FF is, if Square said that next gen every single FF game was exclusive to Nintendo then i probably wouldn't even buy a PS5

Backwards compatibility with ALL previous Sony consoles
Wouldn't that be something!?
I'd say that I'm unlikely to be in the market for a PS5 - but if for some reason it isn't BC with PS4 (and I actually can't see a good reason for it not to be, since it's probably just a straight up power hike based on current architecture) then I wouldn't be buying anyway.

@KALofKRYPTON i keep all my systems so that's not an issue for me, if i wanna play a PS2 game i boot up my PS2
besides it is never going to happen for one simple reason, it can't in order to render PS3 games ANY system would have to have the Cell and what is essentially a PS3 inside it in order to play them same with the PS2 and it's Emotion Engine, thus bumping up the production cost and thus bumping up the overall price
i guess you can have BC but do you want pay £200 extra for it? because that's the ONLY way the PS5 would be able to have full BC with previous systems

@FullbringIchigo I said only expect PS4 BC, as the architecture has no reason to be different.
PS5 should be powerful enough to emulate PS2 games regardless of hardware availability - the PS3 could run most of the PS2 library through software (not all PS3's that ran PS2 games did so through hardware, and some had a partial hardware + software solution) - and while the Cell was different enough that PS4 had no hope of emulating it - It's over a decade old technology now.
It won't happen, it would make PS Now redundant - but the hardware expected for PS5 is more than capable of doing full generation BC through software emulation.
To be honest, there are so many. If the PS5 launched in time for games like Ghost of Tsushima, Last of Us 2, Cyberpunk 2077 etc then I would buy a PS5 to play those games on - even if they also had a cross-generation launch on PS4 too. H:ZD2 would also be a game I would 'have' to get.
In all honesty, the multi-platform releases would depend on whether MS have a next gen console out at the same time as PS5 and which (if any) had the better hardware to play these on. If both launched simultaneously, the one that has the advantage would likely be bought first but I would still buy the other at some point.
I wouldn't need 'convincing' to buy a PS5 at all. It could launch without any 'exclusives' and I would buy because I want the 'best' console gaming experience - not just visuals but also performance too. Hardware is key to gaming - especially with the games that are being made today. I know the Switch manages to deliver some 'great' games with weak (compared to other consoles) hardware and that shows in games like Doom and Wolfenstein. Maybe these are 'good enough' for a small 720p screen and portable experience but on my large 4k HDR screen, I want much better visuals AND more importantly 60fps too. Games like H:ZD, GoW, RDR2, the Witcher 3 etc are enhanced by the visuals especially HDR too and I would love to play games like Ghost of Tsushima, Last of Us 2, Cyberpunk 2077 etc at native 4k, HDR with the highest visual settings and at least 60fps - although I would settle for 1440/CB2160 low/medium visual settings and 30fps (Pro) if that's the only option.
I didn't buy my PS4 for any specific title, I bought it because it offered a sizeable upgrade over my PS3. Of course some games were only available by upgrading but it was the hardware and the difference it made to games, the promise that the 'hardware' offered and the fact it would allow me to play any new games coming in the near future - something the PS3 couldn't offer. I didn't buy it specifically for Killzone or Infamous but for all the exclusive games we have had this generation so far - whether they were announced at launch or not - the promise that the 'hardware' offered. I don't know what ND or Sucker Punch will release after their next games but I want a PS5 to ensure I have the hardware to play them.

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??
Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...
@KALofKRYPTON perhaps it can, until the full specs are released we wont know for sure but even if it can BC shouldn't be and isn't really a system seller, it's an indulgence nothing more, a system should be able to stand up on it's own software, not be help up on older systems software otherwise you end up with a system like the XB1, relying on old games to keep you afloat

@FullbringIchigo BC is a very high selling point. Not essential - and perhaps not a 'system seller' for many, but it helps and encourages people to transition to the newer machine.
PS1>PS2>PS3 were all made easier and more viable because of the BC support.
Also worth considering is the potential lack of generational progress. There's really not a huge amount of revolutionary advancements left to gaming as a medium played via consoles with controllers.
Graphics, frame rates and resolutions are largely all that will distinguish the next generation from the current one - the new shiny should be a better value prospect, and BC is easily added value.

@KALofKRYPTON i honestly don't think the next gen is going to be as big of a leap as people think it will be
anyway i think we might be derailing the tread a bit so we should stop discussing this at least here anyway
