@Th3solution one of the admittedly little things I really liked about Days Gone was the various consumable/collectibles being germane to the place you would find them ie if you want a muffler to make a silencer, look under the hood of a car, medical supplies, in an ambulance etc. it’s a really simple touch that passes most games by but adds a wallop of immersion.

Also a tip I heard going in was focus on melee for the first third of your playthrough as the gun play is a little off until you put a decent amount if skill points into it. Once you have though it plays great.

@Kraven the lengths I went to during the week prior to the Mad Max servers being shut-down, to ensure I’d still be able to get the platinum when I actually got around to playing the game 😅. As a very dedicated platinum hunter to this day, the early hours, late nights and lunch-time treks back and forth work still seem a bridge too far for my still fledgling trophy hunter status at the time. Glad I did though, I enjoyed the hell out of the game when I eventually returned to it a few years later.

I'll be starting Days Gone next week, along with Bioshock Infinite. It was a bit harder to part ways with Skyrim then I expected. I ended up going for platinum, 100% on all DLCs and beating the Ebony Warrior. Now I'm satisfied with the game

Mad Max is also in my library, waiting for its' turn, along with a dozen other games:)

@lotan666 Drop some impressions of Days Gone if you feel up to it. I’d like to hear more and get some up-to-date feedback now that the game has been out for so long.

BioShock Infinite is fantastic, although it’s been several years since I played it and so I don’t know how it holds up nowadays in the visuals and gameplay department. The story, setting, and lore are the real highlights.

I am still playing through Rise of the Ronin, completed another of the main story missions this morning. @Jimmer-jammer @Th3solution @JohnnyShoulder @colonelkilgore I decided I would give Elden Ring another go at some point, if I can get on to a good Postgrad Uni course this or next year I would endeavour to play it during one of the summer breaks between studies, as it is a huge commitment. Also, to combat the feeling of being overwhelmed and lost in the world that put me off continuing with it before I have decided to use FightinCowboy's YouTube guide to make it through the game and dlc. The DLC is actually the main reason I have been tempted to give it another go, sometime after the dlc releases obviously, that and the fact I have heard, repeatedly, that it is From's magnum opus and as someone who has loved and enjoyed their Miyazaki-helmed products for so long - I can't really stay away forever!

@BlAcK_SwOrDsMaN I think that’s a good decision pal, I’ve lost count of the games I didn’t connect with initially but really enjoyed when I eventually returned to them. So there’s that, as well as your affinity for all things Miyazaki… so it’s definitely worth giving it another shot.

@colonelkilgore Thanks man, appreciate the words. Will you be giving Shadow of the Erdtree a shot at launch? If so, I'd be delighted to hear your spoiler-free impressions! 😃

@BlAcK_SwOrDsMaN not at launch as I’ve dedicated 2024 to clearing the remainder of my PS3 backlog… but I will be playing it at some point. I plat’d the PS4 version of Elden Ring but also bought the PS5 version at launch too to play through in the future, so I’ll start a new game on PS5 and then roll straight into SotE when I do so.

@BlAcK_SwOrDsMaN That’s a good idea. Cowboy is a good resource and I’ve used some of his guides, even now during my Dark Souls 2 playthrough. Speaking of, it’s going well, but I took a brief hiatus from it to play and complete the main story of Sifu. Sifu was okay, but just not quite my cup o’ tea. For people who enjoy fighting games it’s would be a treat.

I still am enjoying DS2 and made some small progress this week, which I’ll chronicle over on the dedicated thread. It is quite an overwhelming game in its own right, so I can only imagine how huge Elden Ring is.

@BlAcK_SwOrDsMaN That is good to hear. I am playing it again in prep for the expansion, which I will be getting when it releases. As I rinsed the game on my mammoth playthrough, there is not a great deal for me to do so am itching to get intonthe expansion.

@BlAcK_SwOrDsMaN Glad to hear you’ll be giving Elden Ring another go! It’s got Miyazaki’s fingerprints all over it and is a bonafide masterpiece in my opinion. I quite enjoy being completely lost in its world. I’d love to get the expansion at launch but I’m not fully committed yet. I’ve actually been really enjoying cleaning up some of my backlog here plus the film stuff has kicked into high gear again so I’m not sure if I’ll have the time/energy to get the most out of it at the moment but we’ll see. I can reach pretty far inside of myself to appreciate From Software’s genius. Also, I’ve found their games can pair really well with the more productive seasons of my life. How’s RotR going for you?

Edit: oh, and I’m currently playing Planet of Lana

@Jimmer-jammer I did the Shinsaku mission/boss fight with that character earlier, the first time you encounter him, almost died but still got him on my first try.

Yeah, I just had to go back. (regarding the genius of FromSoft)

@BlAcK_SwOrDsMaN Nice! Sounds like things are going swimmingly, then 😄

@Jimmer-jammer Haha, yeah, my one complaint so far is that things are starting to get a bit repetitive, I'm loving the combat and it has a really fun feel about it, but it seems like most of the missions I have done so far consist of taking out a few "fodder" enemies and then a boss, a bit like in the stealth missions where you have to jump from gargoyle to gargoyle and hide in vents in order to do multiple stealth takedowns of the grunts before taking down the big boss in the Arkham games, but, yeah ,I know there is plenty of side content available which could introduce more variety, but I would have appreciated them mixing things up a bit more for those who just want to stick to the main story.

Edit: Good to hear about the film work as well, my friend, wish you all the best with that. Also, How is Planet of Lana going and what is it like?
