Up against the next miniboss in Sekiro. Haven't defeated him yet but he isn't giving me too much trouble, and I just Googled the best strategy to use against him. Hope that info helps the next time I challenge him!

Well, I beat and got the platinum for Unicorn Overlord this morning. Near the end I was skipping most of the dialogue, but it was still an excellent game for roughly 60 hours. I’m now playing Mafia: Definitive Edition on classical difficulty. It’s a great game, but damn is that racing mission brutal. I’ve gotten second or third place several times, but I mess up once and I’m screwed. Nonetheless, it doesn’t seem too unbearable. Once I get past that hurdle, I think the platinum will be pretty straight forward.
@Kraven I was looking to play the Mafia series some time soon, or at least try the first game and see how it goes. Are you liking the game overall? Do you think you’ll proceed and play Mafia II and III?
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
@Th3solution I am enjoying it quite a bit. The writing and voice acting is top notch, and really brings the story to life. The Illinois/Chicago setting in the 1930’s is really interesting as well. The only true blemish on the game would be its archaic gunplay and combat. It’s not bad, but it’s not great either — just serviceable. It’s definitely worth a play.
I don’t know if I’ll play Mafia 2. I’ve already played Mafia 3. In fact, that was my entry point into the series. The game has a ton of flaws, but it was fun. I doubt I’ll replay it, though. I’m just trying to get reacquainted with its world before Old Country releases.
@Kraven congrats on the Unicorn Overlord plat, I’ve only actually played 13 Sentinels out of Vanillaware’s catalogue but I loved it… I keep meaning to try another one of their games.
I remember the Mafia race on Classic difficulty well… you’ll get it eventually. It is annoying but find little incremental time-saves at various points around the track and be able to slot them all-together for a winning run.
@graymamba I just beat the race on Classic difficulty several minutes ago—thank goodness. Once you understand how the car mechanics work and are comfortable with track layout, it’s not that hard of a race. What matters is how well you drive because one mistake can cause a failed run immediately.
Well, my toddler seen to it that I can’t continue with my play through of Sniper Elite Resistance by braking my Xbox controller. So I started God of War Ragnarok last night and it’s great fun. I read that it could be a bit slow to begin with but I’m loving the action and set pieces so far and definitely haven’t been bored. Top banana 👍
@PeaceSalad
Shame about your controller those nazis get to keep their balls, for now at least.
I’ve just rejoined PS Plus so I’ve just downloaded GoW Ragnarok but have yet to start it, I’ve only been absent from PS Extra for 6 months and there is already a load of new content for me to get through plus I went PS Premium this time so I have a bunch of VR titles as well (currently playing Synapse).
Before I start GoW I need to finish Yakuza the man who erased his name.
@CaptD Ja, probably be a couple of weeks before can replace it. By which time it’ll be Avowed time.
@graymamba Now you have me worried, is he going to start spouting unsubstantiated nonsense and flying into a incandescent rage about exclusivity and women existing?
Massive, massive quantities and a glass of water, sweetheart. My socks are on fire!
I gave into the hype and bought Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 despite not playing the first game. Thankfully, Warhorse posted a ten minute video on their YouTube channel divulging the story so far.
I booted the game up this morning before work — only playing for an hour — but I can tell this game will be special. The characters and their banter are fantastic. The game runs very smoothly in performance mode. Combat is pretty solid too. I’m also already invested in the story which doesn’t happen often right off the bat.
Meanwhile, I’m slowly chipping away at Mafia: Definitive Edition on classic difficulty. I’ll probably have that game finished by next week, currently on chapter 12 out of 20. I’ll be going for the platinum trophy. With that said, I do not like the collectible system in this game, particularly because the mission structure is incredibly linear, in an open world setting, and yet the game wants to you “explore” areas but not really provide an incentive to do so. And some of the collectibles that are story related, while easy to find, some are inexplicably in obscure places that really don’t make sense to search for because of the mission design.
@Kraven Similarly, I booted up the first one to see what it’s all about and have been enthralled, despite the frustratingly clunky nature of it (I also unknowingly got stuck in a challenging and lengthy DLC quest early on in which you play as Theresa that had me tearing my hair out a little) The quality of the writing, performances and level of immersion achieved are pretty amazing. I’m now very excited to for the 2nd one! Hope it goes well for you.
Good descriptions, both. And falling into the Teresa DLC trap is a good way to make it as hard as possible for yourself to stick to with, so you're doing well 😂
I can't praise the second outing enough, either. I kind of want to start a full KCD thread here, but I don't think I'd be able to stop chatting about it if I do.
It really is everything the first game did, but improved and expanded upon, and made to look high end AAA for the most part.
And Kraven, it appears you've gone for the Daniel Vavra double pack with those two titles. He writes a good game, it has to be said.
KCD2 is absolutely killing me, though. Some of the dialogue options you can choose, and some of the completely batsh*t crazy moments are making it such a wild ride. It is maybe 10x more brutal and 20x funnier than the first game.
Enjoy
When it seems you're out of luck.

@Ravix Glad to hear the sequel is living up to expectations! I know you in particular have been outspoken in your appreciation of the first so I’m honestly thrilled for you. Can’t wait to get to it myself. I thought about forgoing the first but honestly, I’m finding it rather enjoyable so I’ll likely finish it.
Yeah, that Theresa quest was a bit of ‘trial by fire’, in that I learned a lot about how the game works (and doesn’t work) in a short time. Needless to say, I’ll be happy if I never have to find 3 pieces of linen in the pitch dark again for as long as I live 😂
So I've been playing Mass Effect 2 and like the first game I've been rather pleasantly surprised with how much I'm enjoying it. I'm nearing the end actually with 40 hours already sunk into it.
I LOVE Mordin of the new crew members in particular. Bit disappointed by Grunt (He's no Wrex) and kinda wish Kasumi was more relevant instead of being a DLC character (Perhaps they should've switched places tbh?)
My one main problem with the game is that the main scenario is pretty lacklustre I'd say. The Collectors just don't have that mystery & interest that the reapers do.
It's just a whole lot of nothing really so far. Kinda clear there was nothing initially planned beyond the first game cus this really feels like it was written by the seat of the writer's pants. I'd be amazed if this WAS actually planned.
In fact I'd say with some tweaks to the script this could've easily been the first game in the series instead with 1 becoming the second game. It'd have much better stakes then with a gradual increase then the sharp decline in stakes I feel this game has.
The whole teaming up with Cerberus thing also doesn't really work too in my mind, especially with a Paragon shep? I don't see why you can't go back to the alliance and the citadel beyond the "plot" demanding it. Especially with everyone calling you out on it and yet to NEVER get to bloody explain anything to anyone.
And then there's the whole Shadow Broker DLC and Liara's role in general which is messy too imo. You're telling me that a rather socially awkward archaeologist who (granted helped saved the galaxy) finds your body, gives it to Cerberus (and knows they're trying to revive you and doesn't mention it to your former crew), becomes an information broker and ends up becoming the head of universe spanning spy network?
The rest of the writing is fine and all. Nothing wrong here and I like everything else with the game otherwise!
Oh except for Jacob. He sucks. He's incredibly uninteresting and just the absolute pits. And that's without me finding out what he can do to femshep in ME3 if for some reason you REALLY like wallpaper paste and made him your love Interest.
@HallowMoonshadow I agree with most of your criticisms, but it never bothered me.
First of all because I am Renegade Shep through and through. I did a Paragon playthrough, but it just never struck me as the right way to play Mass Effect 2.
And second of all because I don't really care about the larger plot in Mass Effect?! I don't know if that's blasphemy around these parts, but I mostly enjoy the characters and how the story "feels", more than if it makes sense. The game takes me on n epic adventure and sometimes it just needs a bit more suspension of disbelief to make that happen.
