Returnal is still, for me, the greatest PS5 experience and game (no longer exclusive as it’s on PC now). Some people struggle with the Rogue-like nature of it but it is a fantastic game.
Spider-Man and Miles Morales are both excellent games. Cyberpunk is a bit divisive but runs brilliantly and I had a great time with it.
As for FPS games, DOOM 2016 and DOOM Eternal are both excellent and the latter I’m sure has been upgraded for PS5.
As for my top PS5 games, I'll stick with ones that have an actual PS5 version...
Horizon Forbidden West
Final Fantasy VII Remake
Cyberpunk 2077
Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection
Life is Strange: True Colors
Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales
Kena: Bridge of Spirits
Those are ones that came to mind, and technically I did 10 since Uncharted is two games.

@Max_Headroom - if you're after a challenge, alongside a fantastic visual/audio showcase for PS5 capability, then look no further than Returnal.
Probably not a game for 'everyone' - but if you enjoy a difficulty curve, and fast-paced tight gameplay, I'd highly recommend.
Rogue-style bullet hell set on an alien planet, like Hades crossed with Dark Souls - all blended in with a Ridley Scott style Alien/Prometheus aesthetic
Most addictive game I've played on PS5, really hooked me.
Not necessarily a top 5 list, but just a few notable games —
I have to agree that Returnal has to be one of my favorite PS5 experiences. The game has dropped off the community buzz it once had, but I don’t think there’s another PS5 game that took over my life quite like it. It’s definitely not a game designed for mass market appeal, like Spider-Man or Horizon, but it’s exquisitely developed for gameplay satisfaction.
Another PS5 game that blew me away was Control Ultimate Edition. Also a game that is long since forgotten, but was really fantastic when ported to PS5 after it struggled to run on PS4. It was one of my first PS5 games to play and still stands as one of my strongest PS5 memories. Also a game (like Returnal) which shines more in the gameplay department rather than the narrative department, yet has a weird enough plot to piece it all together.
Demon’s Souls Remake is another PS5 game with such a engrossing set-up and wonderful utilization of the hardware.
Shout-out to Gran Turismo 7 also for how it snared me into an obsession with it for a couple months. I’m not a racing fanatic by any stretch, but the game was wonderfully balanced to endear me to the gameplay loop of grinding for new cars and enjoying new tracks and challenges. It’s probably a game I could play endlessly if I didn’t have dozens of other games in the backlog.
And to add another so as to make it a round 5, Astrobot’s Playroom is a must-play for any PS5 owner. It’s fairly short-and-sweet but is still unrivaled in its usage of the DualSense.

As an added bonus, some of the most forgettable PS5 games I’ve played: Subnautica, Maneater, and Marvel’s Avengers. In the case of the first two, the base game just wasn’t for me to begin with, and any native PS5 upgraded bells and whistles didn’t help at all. As far as Avengers, the PS5 features were actually pretty decent — nice DualSense support, beautiful graphics, stable performance — but the actual game was just so annoying in many ways (I’ll spare the details) that I just can’t place it anywhere but at the lowest tier of PS5 gaming experiences for me so far.
Thanks to all who have answered i think having watched one of my favourite reviewers opinion on your recommendation i will give Returnal a try, i hope the video will be of use to fellow new owners of the PS5.
I will bookmark the thread so i can come back and look at recommendations for future games.
So as not to open another thread for it to be moved to a forum that seems to be as dead as a dodo could i ask the PS5 playing members if they could take a look at this, i have now got my first PS5 game (Returnal) so am seriously thinking of getting a better monitor.
@Th3solution I would have included Control Ultimate Edition on my list as well, but I have yet to play the PS5 version. I figured it would give some other games a chance to get mentioned if I just went with games that had a PS5 version that I actually played. Control was one of my favorite games from last gen, but I still haven't played the PS5 version beyond a short time just to check it out since I already played the last gen version twice.
@Kidfried It's been a month and a half since their last post. I never really thought anything of it until they were just mentioned, but then I remembered not seeing any posts from them in quite a while. It's weird to just disappear all of a sudden, and I didn't share the same gaming habits, but I still do hope everything's ok.
