And note to the mods and admins: Not sure if you want this kind of stuff on the site since it does talk about hackers and such. Just delete the thread if its against the rules.
I've been following this issue for a while and tried to look at both sides. I have some opinions about it, which I'll reserve for the moment, except to say that Anonymous' attack on PSN was misguided. It denied me service and did little to affect Sony, IMO. The group has since recognized the error of this tactic. I'm glad they've decided to stop and try something else, but some harm, though small, was already done.
One weakness is the group's efforts are seemingly not well conceived, organized, nor united, and thus, IMO, not likely to succeed.
Stopped reading their articles since they're such entitled, self-righteous douchebags. Listening to them logically embarrass Fox News personnel was entertaining for a little while...but yeah 0 interest in Anonymous anymore.
Especially if they're messing with my ability to use PSN. Go hack 360--Microsoft is way worse for the industry than Sony, console/games not withstanding.

Agreed - this is very self-righteous, and the idea that Anonymous is doing this on my behalf is ludicrous. Who elected them to speak on our behalf? I certainly didn't; I speak for myself.
Hopefully this will blow over soon as it's probably just a group of script kiddies practising their DDOS skills.
Hopefully this will all disappear now that it seems a compromise has been resolved. Hotz refrains from publishing his information (which seemed to be in clear violation of the DMCA) and avoids a trial and possible penalties.
Sony avoids a P.R. headache, but maintains that it will protect itself.

Yea, the whole thing is stupid. And what James said: No one ever had an issue with Sony in the first place. I don't see why they're speaking for all of us when only a small group of people are concerned about the whole thing.
I don't really know what Anonymous is. Can someone shed some light on my situation? I was really taking everything seriously until they mentioned lulz XD
I'd imagine with a name like that, they'd be hard to look up, huh? Well, they're a large group of skilled hackers who attack various sites, usually just to cause trouble. Lately they've been doing things to further their own causes, though, such as attacking government websites for taking down Megaupload.
you can google it if you're truly that interested. i guess this thing blew over anyway :3
BEST THREAD EVER future of NL >:3
[16:43] James: I should learn these site rules more clearly
[16:44] LztheBlehBird: James doesn't know the rules? For shame!!!
