It may seem a little superfluous but I thought it might be an idea to have a separate thread for this. Here you can post/post about books on your To-read lists! For example, after reading Moby-Dick by Herman Melville, I intend to read Horses of the Sun a biography on the Indian abstract artist M.F. Husain and The Portable Chekhov a short collection of works by the Russian writer, published by Penguin.

The list can be as long or short as you so desire.

My to-read list is currently 904 books deep (with many of them being the first in a series), so I'll stick to the next planned five I have a loose schedule going beyond those five as well; one designed to keep up with series I'm reading while also getting some variation (for example, reading all 39 books in the Harry Bosch Universe in a row would leave room for little else, but I don't want it to go too long between books either), though I will shuffle and change it as new, shiny things catches my eye

My next five will likely be:

  • Holly by Stephen King (I love the character Holly Gibney, so high time I got to this one)
  • The Crossing by Michael Connelly, a Harry Bosch novel
  • Strangers by Dean Koontz
  • Next of Kin and The Devil's Only Friend by Dan Wells (a novella and the next novel in the John Cleaver series)
  • The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix (want to get to this one before the adaptation drops)

That’s a great idea! My current backlog isn’t too long, but I have a few lined up. I’m about halfway through The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides, which has been pretty gripping. After that, I’m planning to finally get to Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut—it’s been sitting on my shelf for a while. I’m also eyeing The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami, though it seems like it’ll be quite the journey.

What made you pick Moby-Dick? That’s quite an undertaking!

@Garot I used to be a big Mastodon (the rock band) fan. They have an album called Leviathan which is a concept album based on Moby-Dick.

Edit: I highly recommend the album if you're at all interested in rock/heavy metal. I moved on to jazz and free jazz guitar since then.

This thread doesn’t seem like it’s needed when we already have the main book reading topic; let’s keep discussion to there. Thanks!
