Topic: Completing games - do you always?

Same as most, I consider a game finished when the credits roll. I may go for 100% or Platinum trophies if I think I can do it, but I consider that stuff optional.

When it comes to finishing games, I try to finish every game I get. Even if it's a mediocre title, I'd rather finish it just to see if it gets better or worse.

Just finished crash 1... thought about completing it ... nope. The challenges to get 100% aren't as fun as they are rewarding, and I have a backlog to move through. This pretty much happens in every game.

I like to finish every game I play, and by that I mean get to the end of the single player story. I'm not too fussed about trophies and only platinum games I really, really or enjoy where it isn't too difficult to do so. I highly doubt I'll go for all the Crash trophies I think it would drive me to madness!

In terms of Nintendo games I like to get all the stars in Mario or all the heart pieces in Zelda. In Pokemon it's rarely my aim to complete the 'dex - although it is satisfying if I can - and I'm okay with shelving it if I haven't filled it out completely.

I have a huge backlog but do like to replay my favourites now and then like Zelda or BioShock. When I replay Ocarina I seldom bother with getting all the heart pieces again.

I honestly can not remember the last time I completed a game. I very rarely play campaigns and when I do, I seem to get bored pretty quickly.

I start a game with the intent to finish, but find I frequently get distracted. The problem for me is if I leave a game for too long, I have trouble getting back into it. And while I play, I do go a little overboard to be a completionist. I consult a trophy website sometimes ahead of time to map out what I can do in one playthrough. The trophy meta-game is part of the enjoyment, although I only have a handful of platinums.

Unfortunately, I am discovering that trying to do too much during the play through can burn me out or frustrate me. So it does cause me to lose interest in a game, and like I say, if I leave, i may find it too hard to get back in the groove of a game after a few weeks or months away.
Lately this has happened to me on:
Horizon Zero Dawn, Batman Arkham Knight, Dragon Age Inquisition, No Man's Sky (all day 1 purchases for me)
And on: Dishonored, Assassin's Creed Black Flag, and Dragon's Dogma --- all games I enjoyed at least somewhat at one point but got pulled away or bored with before making it to the "end," and now I feel too overwhelmed to try to crank up one of those knowing I would have to completely relearn the controls, consult the internet to remember where I was in the story, die a bunch while I'm trying to figure out the combat again, and waste hours running around trying to find the next objective, etc, etc.

It's just easier to put in a new game.

Hello, Lost Legacy. So nice to meet you. Care to spend the next 8-10 hours with moi?

I usually do, and I tend to only play 2 games at the most until I finished at least one of them before I start playing another. If it's a game that requires a lot of loot farming then sometimes I'll just be playing that game for months without even playing any other games.
