Topic: Feeling quite ignored

I remember there used to be a time when Nintendo Life wasn't too big that people would actually respond to one another and have fun little conversations, then it got big and I got used to being completely overshadowed.

Then I found Push Square, and the user base was much smaller. In the beginning people would have fun little responses with one another, and I really enjoyed it. For some reason though, the user base didn't really get any bigger, but it seems all of my comments get completely ignored now. Whether it be that I ask a question, or respond to someone else, or even make a silly little joke, nobody responds anymore. It's very disheartening to see when you've been around since practically the beginning.

I guess if nobody responds here either, I can be sure to know that nobody cares if I have anything witty or insightful to say anyways...

The site's definitely growing nicely, so we're really happy with that! Sorry if you're feeling ignored, though -- I'm trying to make a bigger effort to participate in the forums, so hopefully you won't be a lonely Larry anymore.

The article comments seem to be doing decent, but I would like to see the forums more active as well.

I think it will come in time.

I don't have a Vita which is why I never post in there. I try to keep the "what game are you playing" thread moving in the PS3 section going at least.

You are one of the very few people who leaves comments on anything I post, so I don't blame you for it. The site has grown, I noticed, but it's not overwhelming like Nintendo Life has become. If I post something there, I -know- nobody will reply to it. Here though, there used to be some nice interactions with the other members daily.

Hah, that's where I feel the most ignored...

Dude, i feel you! Most of the times i get a response because someone is disaggreeing but never a conversation... Maybe it is because of my terrible writing of the english language.

I always read the article comments, but I notice most people on most sites will usually post without reading the other responses when it comes to articles. They're not a great place to start a conversation. Just arguments. If you want to start discussion and conversation, I find it's best to stick to the forums.

If you think about it, NL had the benefit of each of its existing sites behind it -- WiiWare World, VC Reviews, and the original Nintendo Life, each with their own Nintendo-loving userbase to bring into the fold. Then there was the site merger around the time of the DSi, so we had all kinds of people coming in for information regarding Nintendo's then-latest and greatest, then there was the XL, then the 3DS and its XL, and now we've got the Wii U. During all that time we've had people coming to NL for help and advice regarding everyone's new purchases, and gradually the site as a whole has grown into what it is today.

Granted, with the VitaGamr/Push Square merger we brought the NL userbase to the table, but a mostly Nintendo-loving userbase isn't going to jump ship all together or anything. we have a few familiar faces looking pretty regular around here nowadays, and we've had people sign up at Push Square for the purpose of posting here, but it's still slow growing. what this place needs is a brand new console release to get things going, and that's gonna be the PS4. when it gets closer to launch and we start to post articles to help people make the transition, advice articles and FAQs and things, and of course when we're totally on top of the reviews for the PS4 launch titles, i'm sure we'll start to see new users popping up to check the place out and sticking around to participate in discussions on the forums and such. it's how NL has grown over the years, after all :3

in short, if you're feeling neglected at the moment, blame Sony for not putting out more hardware. :3

I only really hang out here and EG for games news and to comment on stuff really. The site here is nice, and the writers and members are pretty good with feed back. It's far removed from the unabashed trollalong you get on most 'big' sites.

Curse you Sony for not doing anything particularly noteworthy in recent memory!! *shakes fist at the sky*

Sorry @Azikira.  I rarely pay attn to people with MLP as avatar's.  Nothing personal, it's just what happens unfortunately.

Thats stereotyping, you know. and besides, I finally got around to changing it to the one I use on everything else.

I know how you feel Azikira. When I started out here first, I did not know what to expect, but I did not let it bother me somehow. I have a hunch that as soon as bigger the install base for the Playstation gets, the more people will come to sites like this and be open-minded to whatever they find in these forums.                                                             
                               

I have been ignored by some, but I know there are others that have the same idea as I do and we pretty much start a conversation. As for the people not giving their insights towards a thread, I think it will pass eventually and there will be other takers who'd be likely to talk it up on the forums. No, I haven't registered with Nintendo Life yet, hehe.

@Enobmah_Shards: You've already got an account at Nintendo Life (and PureXBOX for that matter) -- it's the same login info as your Push Square account. One account, three sites' worth of gaming goodness. :3

I know it can be really frustrating when you feels like hardly anyone notices you're around, most of us have probably been there at some point ourselves. The thing to try to keep in mind is even if nobody responds to a post chances are they at least read it, they probably just don't have anything good to bring to the table. Thats what kept me going at least

The news articles aren't a great place to have ongoing conversations simply because they tend to be abandoned fairly quickly, but the forums certainly are.

It really depends on what you say.

If you go to a news article and just give what you think, you probably won't get too many replies.

However, asking questions or triggering a debate is a good way to get some mentions.
