FFVII was the game that brought my favourite genre out of niche-land and made it popular for a decade so I have nothing but love for it. It hasn't aged as gracefully as some of his 2D predecessors or 3D successors but some of the visuals (Midgar!) and the incredible music had an incredible impact on me at the time. It is undoubtedly overrated as a game but it's impact on gaming culture was just massive.
I kind of think this remake thing they are doing is a suicidal mission that can't really be that successful but will undoubtedly play it as it comes out but... I am way more excited about that IX HD port and a potential XVI built on the many things they did right in the latest chapter.
Just got a platinum for XII Zodiac Age! It's a wonderful game, downright incredible if you consider it came out 11 years ago.
In some key aspects XII is a lot more polished than XV, but coming back to Noctis & C. to play the festival and testing the PS4Pro I couldn't help but realise how much more fun, warmth and discovery is in XV. I am now totally convinced XV is the best modern Final Fantasy and I hope they will go further down this kind of path in the future (minus the development hell / creating a functioning game out of the carcass of another one aspect of course).

Since FF 12 that pretty much goes without saying. FF15 is great but has / had major issues with its story telling as the actual story is amazing once you piece it together in your head, funnily with commenting about Persona 5 earlier and its strange closing stages, if you compare that games story with the closing stages of ff15, Persona 5 is way better. But its obviously been fleshed out since I played it over xmas time.
Well done on the plat, ive given up on trophies now. Were do you fond the time for all the jrpg trophies?

@themcnoisy yeah the storytelling of P5 is very tight and far superior to the one in XV. That said that is really the one aspect I prefer in P5: I know it's not a popular opinion but I vastly preferred XV ...and I really wasn't expecting it myself. It has got a lot of heart and guts.
Forgive me for probably a dumb question from someone who has yet to play FFXV, but is planning to play it as soon as I can get control over my backlog a bit (making my way through Persona 5 and Danganronpa 2 right now) --
The question: Is the Assassin's Festival DLC going to be playable after Jan 31st 2018? I was roaming around the free DLC section of the PS store and noticed it said something like "limited time event" and then I went to the FFXV website and it said "...until January 31, 2018, you can partake in this limited time event ..." Does that mean it is only available to download until that date, or does it mean that even if previously downloaded that the content is not playable after that date? The website makes it sound like the latter - as though even if I download the DLC to play later, I will not be able to play it if I wait until after Jan 31st. If so, that seems really weird. Why would they do that?
Anyways, just wondering if I need to move the game up my backlog list to be sure to get it in within the next 5 months, or if the DLC is really even worth all that trouble.

@Th3solution I think it's not going to be playable after that date, the chocobo carnival couldn't be accessed at all after it ended.
Even if this dlc is a lot more developed and fun then we all expected it to be, in the end it's just a nice free extra, I wouldn't get hasty just for it. The game is already packed with a gazillion things to do so you'll have plenty to enjoy anyway.
@Feena I prefer ff15 too. The x amount of hours I put in flew by. With P5 its a real slog at times, it feels like ive been playing P5 for an eternity. Its just more fun in ff15 as you can set the pace and you dont have morgana telling you to goto bed. Im pretty sure I stayed up for 3 days in game time without saving one time. Suck that morgana.
@Th3solution limited time events finish on the end date. If your unsure if you will play it by then dont purchase it.

@Feena@themcnoisy Thanks for the feedback. I guess I'll just get my assassinating fix with AC: Origins if I don't get around to the event in time 😉.
It sounds like new FFXV events may be popping up occasionally. I wonder if there is a new one in the works for when the Assassin's Festival expires.

@Th3solution with the way the Assassin's Festival works, if you played the first say 5 chapters of the main game you should be able to play it with no issues and can then come back and finish the game at a later date

Excalibur 2? Isn't that final dungeon within 12 hours? I never figured out how that was possible really lol. Guess their are plenty of hacks included in this version that will help.

Alright, I will do a playthrough with all the boosts on after the first one! I waited so much for this... Going to enjoy it

I dont dig the ! pop ups whenever I get close to a character though, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. Plus I already noticed some of the dialogue is different - "You dwopped your ticket" has been corrected to dropped.
Wow, I'm gunna struggle with the changes they make to FF7 aren't I :')
