@kyleforrester87 I think last months poll made it clear Kakarot is the coolest.

@kyleforrester87 Better known as Goku. I probably should’ve said Saiyaman to stay in line with the man theme.

@Ryall I know Goku, my young colleague talks about him excitedly from time to time. I'm more of a Cloud Strife kinda guy!

@kyleforrester87 Cloud is definitely cooler than anyone who secret identity ends in the word man.

@crimsontadpoles Considering the last reply you got was sort of mean, I just wanted to pitch this in: it's perfectly fine to feel uncomfortable with the Member Appreciation Day thread and want to put some distance between it and yourself. That sort of thing is always going to make some people feel bad and/or undervalued if they're not mentioned.

It's also perfectly fine to express those feelings to the community at large, and you shouldn't have to feel judged as a result.

I look forward to seeing you back when you're better situated to engage with the community.

This is not high school, there are no "cool people" around here

Well you say that @KratosMD... But it's clear that even here that there's still going to be certain circles & social cliques akin to school. Hell I've actually had a forum or two of my own years ago and it's very common to see people forming certain groups or only engaging with certain people.

I get where both of you are coming from though. I'm not just saying that to play devil's advocate either.

Since I came back from my week and a bit long leave back in November I've found myself not engaging with the community as much as I did before.

In fact for articles It's been incredibly wonky as of late and I've mainly been keeping myself to the forums.

But even then my anxiety (which hasn't really kicked in online at all) has caused me to second guess replies or posts to others and I've ended up not posting them.

Sometimes even though I have had something I wanna say I've not bothered putting it down at all for fear of coming off like a grump or not wanting to start anything despite the fact I should probably speak up.

Of course I can't speak for @crimsontadpoles but I've seen him post a fair bit (I think he's being a bit hard on himself there) but sometimes you do just get buried under other posts when you do try to engage and come off like you're saying stuff into the void...

... But like you said it's also on us to just keep posting and try to keep engaging with people on a more regular basis til we get that recognition and connection with people. There's no denying that.

I think coming here and ending up being part of the "MCNoisy forum event spectacular" for the best PS3 game when I first joined last year really helped me get to know everyone around here and weirdly get me more comfortable to Push Square then I would've been had I joined at any other point.

I'd probably not have been on here so much and found such a nice community as I have in fact if I didn't get that initial "in" with most the regulars.

You're a passionate guy KratosMD and I know you only mean well by both the topic and your advice to Crimson there but your tone can come off as a smidge confrontational (that end bit in particular comes off a little heated) rather then helpful (at least it does to me and I don't think you meant it to in the slightest)

Take care @crimsontadpoles and see you soon. I hope you have a nice break and refresh yourself! 😊

You're quite clearly all of the cool @kyleforrester87... Though "Cloud Strifeman" comes off as a character from Death Stranding or something 😂

EVERY community has cool kids. There are ALWAYS in-groups whenever humans gather together. Some people deserve this (@themcnoisy has put on so many cool community events and whatnot that I feel like he deserves some sort of recognition for the level of engagement he engineers), but other people enjoy this status as a result of wittiness or even just being around for so long that everybody knows them.

That doesn't mean topic like KratosMD's should never be made, but I also don't think it's unreasonable for some people to feel alienated and/or uncomfortable as a result.

@Kidfried Nah, I appreciate your unique take. You're very right: people need a break from ALL communities on occasion. ALL relationships, actually, regardless of whether they're between two people or two million people, require some space in them.

This becomes even more vital in a world where you're dinged and messaged and notified every time a person so much as sneezes online. It can be suffocating.

Personally, there have been times where I got excessively irritated about stuff, or perhaps overengaged to the point where my posts were becoming less considered, and just thought: "I've gotta take a break for a while." I just don't really publicly announce as much. I'm sure people here have noticed dips or peaks in my activity (or not, because, perhaps, I'm not a cool kid ).

Anyway, it's important for people to be able to feel like they can vocalize their concerns without being jumped on (to some degree, at least; some concerns are absolutely asinine, but I don't feel like applies to crimsontadpole's particular situation).

LOL I wish I was like that. I always post and then, a minute later, decide to edit my post because of that anxiety and second-guessing. But someone always sees the post before the edit!

@crimsontadpoles Sorry you haven't had a mention or what not. Browsing this leaving thread because my good pal @RogerRoger is having a break, I missed shout outs to @John_Kal who's done some amazing reviews (just miffed he hates MGS 5) and @Ryall let alone the plethora of other Pushsquare like @triplegk @mrobinson @airbag jeez I've left out a ton actually I just can't remember all the user names correctly. There's over a million people following Pushsquare and at least 1500 members (Probably way more actually).

When it comes to popular people, that's never really been the case here. Unless you do something daft like troll, threaten someone or stalk someone on Facebook - true story happened to me here, they had my wife's name and everything. Anyway as long as you are clued up (which you are) and are a big gamer (that's beyond doubt), you are exactly why I visit here. If I haven't engaged with your comments it's not because you are not popular, I couldn't care less if you are popular or not. Your opinion matters as I have and will read your comments.

Don't leave because you feel less popular. Let's make you stay by making you included. So are we making a game together on Dreams or what?

@KratosMD Sorry to butt in, but:

  • You're not going to be able to do anything about people taking time off from the forum on occasion, or even permanently leaving. Stuff happens. People move on.
  • Not everyone is going to be cool with every thread on a forum, and that's perfectly OK. Crimson didn't ask you to delete the thread, did they? They don't feel comfortable with it and, feeling like their own posting has been suffering anyway, decided to duck out for a while. Again, there's nothing wrong with that, and it's nothing you can or should have any control over anyway.
  • I think you're probably taking this too personally.

@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy How you getting on with the story FGS? Dreams is full fat releasing in 3 days. I will be locked in when I get back from France on the 19th (probably start the game proper on the 20th). Ignore my original story idea and if you have a good starting point we can make a 5 minute tech demo.

and then I remember you Foxy leaving earlier last year because of a heated debate on NL

Well not so much a heated debate as a joke in poor taste told at the worst possible time... But yes that was the circumstances I was alluding to in my post.

I never said you shouldn't of made the topic (It's an idea that I can tell only has the best intentions at heart) and apologies if I didn't make it clear that I thought it was a neat idea in my previous post.

I can also imagine pretty clearly how much it stings that crimsontadpoles is taking a break because of something that you thought would bring everyone closer together and make them feel more welcome.

But you know things aren't as black and white as that..

I'm not really sure what else to say about this whole situation @KratosMD as I kinda already said my feelings on the matter...

... Not to mention the fact we're having such a discussion is also doing your newly found thread a disservice and I think it's best if we all leave it here yeah?

@KratosMD Try not to take someone not liking a thread you created personally. Back in the day @Tasuki locked two of mine and I know he didn’t have a problem with me because the ban hammer didn’t fall.

Ryall

@KratosMD ...my point is that you're taking it more personally than you should. The sense I got from their post is that they were wanting to take some time off anyway, and being uncomfortable with that thread just added some fuel to the fire.

They didn't specifically call you out. They didn't ask you to take it down. They stated their feelings and left it at that. And they're entitled to feel those feelings, just as you're entitled to feel the way you feel about your thread. Not everybody has to agree about everything.

But, to be painfully honest, I doubt Crimson is going to be the only person who will end up feeling uncomfortable with that thread. ANY thread or activity that singles out specific users for praise is going to make some people feel that way. It doesn't mean the thread shouldn't exist, or that you're a bad person for making it. It is what it is.

But, as Foxy said, I'll leave it there. This isn't really the place for such a discussion, and I believe I've made my feelings on the matter clear.

I didn't intend for any of this to turn into a big discussion, so I'll just try and clear the air before continuing my break from here.

@KratosMD I'm sorry for causing things to get riled up, and I'm sorry for causing you to need a break from these forums. Don't take any of my complaints personally. You're clearly a kind-hearted person wanting to encourage a greater community here.

Personal life is the most important thing to focus on, so take all the time away that you need to. I wish you the best of luck with your studying and exams. Hopefully in the future we'll both be back on here having a more fun discussion about games.

But for now, goodbye and take care.

Good night gravy. I walked away for few hours and feel like the place got capsized in my absence. @RogerRoger left for a bit, now my man @KratosMD is leaving for a little while, gosh dang. I hope to see you again soon @KratosMD. If you ever need to vent let me know.
I feel like I'm gonna wake up tomorrow though and @themcnosiy is gonna be absent because his work put him on a helicopter to a different country for something that needs urgent fixing, @Kyleforrestor87 is gonna say his house got burned down by a toilet catching on fire, @Th3Solution is gonna find th3problem and, well, you get the idea every that posts is gonna be gone.
