Is there anyway we can be notified if we go to far? Some people dont realise they have, others cant help it. Away from the forum in a personal message or something?
Usually if you get a warning I will add a note to the offending post. I agree that doing so may cause a warning to be missed by someone so I will look into contacting via email if that's easier.
Yeah, or even if we did something stupid which isn't trolling - like putting a topic in the wrong place, or putting a thread in which we cant really talk about (which I did on the vita forum a few days ago). And just delete the thread rather than locking it and notifying us on email. But that could be a lot of work for you tasuki.
The reason I don't like deleting threads (unless of course they several go against the rules i.e. pornography, links to torrent sites etc.) so that way people can see why it was locked. Also by just deleting a thread a user might repost the thread thinking that it was deleted by accident or a glitch in the system. Its not anymore work and I honestly believe in giving warning rather then just out right banning people unless it is something really really bad.

Imo, it's ok to talk about the disappointments of a given console on a fan site. It's how you say it though that determines whether it's appropriate.
I'm not on this site as much but I see this type of behavior all the time on NintendoLife. A lot of members, for example, never post without slipping in an insult or jab at the Wii U, Nintendo, their lineup, etc. It's every single post they make, "Wii U is failure" or "Nintendo's dead lineup" or whatever, it just never ends. It's all they talk about, every single article, every single post. That's the type of stuff that grates on your nerves, especially when they then accuse anyone who dares to express satisfaction as being a fanboy who eats up whatever they dish out. That's trolling imo.
But a honest discussion where the person is genuinely bothered by the negative they're discussing, that's fine and should be encouraged. But when a person seems to take great joy in spouting a console's failures, that's when you know they're stirring up a reaction.

The posts you just described sound exactly like most of my posts here. But, it is my honest opinion that the PS4, when you look at the exclusive lineup (either of games that are out or on the way for the rest of this year) is a joke and there's nothing wrong with saying that if that's how one feels. I've seen a lot of those posts you talk about at NLife, and I guess I can see why it would annoy people but I still don't see how that makes it trolling, even if it is every post. And there's no taking joy it doing that, it's just making a point. I can't speak for those guys at NLife and frankly with what Nintendo is doing giving the lack of third party support I don't know what more those guys could want, but from my perspective, my negativity would stop if Sony would get its act together and stop bsing. Maybe those guys feel the same about Nintendo.
PushSquare is pretty solid when it comes to dealing with outsider criticism of Sony playforms, NintendoLife however.........it's not every member, but that place and can quickly dissolve into a war zone if you happen to voice an opinion that's critical.
I personally reported a post that suggested I get my eyes checked, I don't believe it was removed but to me it's on the line between abuse and disagreement, I reported it because I didn't think it was an acceptable comment to make, personally this kind of abuse doesn't bother me whatsoever but it might be offensive to others, especially those with sight impairments. Its also one step away from saying something like 'are you f*ing blind!'.

I got into a disagreement with someone over 1080p - they said they couldn't see the difference of last gen and this gen. I was floating close to unacceptable, but in that instance what can you say? But yes I was told I clearly couldn't see by one poster when I disagreed with a comment, but you can tell if your commenting with someone who is relatively conscious of what they are writing, as the discussion is weighted. And for the most part people like yourself, Bam, Rasta, Jaz etc all climb down when you know you've gone to far. And generally add positive comments that add to the discussion.

I like differences of opinion as that can open up a great discussion. This I agree is what makes a great forum topic and a great community. What I can't stand is people deliberately trolling or being obnoxious. These things can ruin a great forum.
We are all different and will not agree on everything. A review is a classic example - take Zombie Army Trilogy for example (Only picking on that game as its recently been reviewed and I have it too) which scored a 6 here, I disagree with the score myself thinking its more of a 7 - 7.5 but I don't thing the reviewer is wrong to award it a 6 as that is how they perceived the game to them. I can't argue with their decision but I can justify why I think it's a higher score from my perspective which leads into a healthy discussion. Being obnoxious or trolling will automatically stop people from accepting or reading any pertinent points or valid contributions you make.
Like any society or group, there are likely to be people with different opinions and objectives. I am glad that we have moderators that deal with these issues and keep the forums a place for healthy discussion.

Dealing with negative comments can be difficult, especially when people are using subjective terms, but using them authoritatively. But this is the internet, and the more popular PushSquare gets the more activistic style of comments we are going to get: people will come on here and think that their complaints will have an influence. As people have alluded to, the exact same thing happened to Nintendo Life. In my opinion, the best thing to do is let the mods deal with it: I have seen mods effectively deal with these problems on other websites. For example, at Giant Bomb the mods are very strict on negativity: they have no problem suspending accounts if you are deemed to be overly critical. Also, the community will flag negative users, which will also lead to strict moderation. It might sound a little a draconian, but it works. Or you can go the Eurogamer route and just have a free-for-all. It depends what PushSquare wants.

But at the same time I've noticed peoples comments that are perfectly fine but critical on NL be attacked by users, too many people are looking for unrealistic havens where they're opinion is the only one that just isn't the world and I'm glad that is the case.
There is a difference between negativity and trolling. Going back to the reviews, Motorcycle Club recently scored a 2/10 and I expect it was very difficult to find something positive to say. Being negative but honest is not the issue - especially if you can justify/quantify why you are being negative. Saying the '[insert item] is crap!' is very different from saying the '[insert item] is bad because....'
I know this article was written because of comments on the Vita. Personally I don't own a Vita to be able to make comments. I know I have commented in that particular area of the forum but on topics that are more universal on gaming. If and when I being negative about something I try to give a reason based on my honest opinion and from my perspective. You can't always be positive about everything or not be allowed to comment on the negatives as that would stop discussion and people would question the 'honesty' and 'bias' of the people.
If we only talk about the 'positives' of something, we create a false impression. If we don't address the negatives then how can we expect them to be 'fixed' or give an all round honest opinion.
Like I said there is a big difference between honest opinion - whether that is 'negative' or not and just trolling. Trolling is being negative but without reason to provoke a negative response and/or for the attention.
I think one of the best ways of dealing with them is to handle it 'behind the scenes' as it stops them getting the attentin they are obviously seeking.

The difference is when it becomes personal or purposefully offensive. Most 'troll' comments are reactive because they come from weak willed people that are easily offended and feel they need to respond and then end up being offensive themselves, some people don't understand that the world doesn't revolve around them.
The whole thread is here because of me :') Someone complained several times that they didn't like me honestly assessing the Vita as wonderful but next to dead and saying who cares, just enjoy the machine and games. Better to live with your head in the sand than out in the air apparently. My calling a spade a spade attitude riles a few people on here, especially fanboys and possibly you too in The Order thread. Some people on here though (not you, before I get accused of more stuff, ha) seem to be morally outraged by absolute everything and can't understand that having an opinion different from your own doesn't mean it's trolling, just a difference of opinions.

It's because of you?! You must feel honored. Honestly though, while your posts tend to come out a bit negative, your response in the The Order thread made a lot sense to me and I have no problem with people having a different opinion if its backed up by reasoning. As it is in your case sir. I'm not sure if I'd be able to have a wonderful conversation about games with you when inviting you over at dinner, haha, but I certainly can happily coexist with you on this website. And seriously, as long as the argumentation is valid and each and everyone respects personal taste, I see no problem at all. I love The Order to death but I feel no aggression towards you for not enjoying it. That would be stupid wouldn't it? I'm sure you also don't hate me because I'm not the biggest fan of anime games or what Nintendo is/was doing the past couple of years right?

@rastamadeus can take the credit if he wants, but nobody has stated more than me that Sony needs to drop the Vita and move away from the handheld market for good.
Actually it's not really cause of either of you @Gamer83 and @rastamadeus. It's been going on for awhile now and I just got fed up with it. Honestly you two have been just fine. You too are both examples of a honest opinion and not trolls.

Indeed vita is dead in the west, I'm still kind of selfish enough to expect some decent titles though. I think there is room for a dedicated handheld simply for straight for streaming games though. Attaching a ds4 to a phone looks stupid.
