I used to be a bit of a trophy hunter but after seeing trophies pop up during Shadow of the Colossus when you defeated them, I removed notifications and stopped caring about them slowly. I found they made me play modes I didn't care for or mini games that I was not enjoying just to get the platinum. I still do get platinums if they're easy or fun (GOWR, SM2, Robocop etc).
I see comments on reviews for games discussing how much trophies matter for the games they buy or auto pop-up for upgraded game.
So what are your thoughts on trophies and why do you like or dislike them?
@breakneck While I'm not much of a trophy hunter myself, I think they're an excellent addition, and when implemented with a lot of thought, can add another dynamic to games.
They might force you to try different ways to play, look for unique items or other interesting things. On rare occasion, I've sought to obtain the platinum on both PS4 and PS5, just for a little extra fun on repeated playthroughs of favourite games.
I really don't see much of a downside personally, though I'd be interested to read opinions why if anyone has any. Currently enjoying hunting trophies on Vampire Survivors.
