Found this very interesting article about 2K sports and though I would share it.

It pretty much answers some of my questions as to why they dont do other sports games.  I know the football they kinda of cant due to the NFL selling out to EA but it does make me wonder why not a Baseball game at least?

What are you guy's thoughts?

Well, as far as baseball, putting it nicely, the 2K series was very, very subpar compared to The Show. I think it'll make a comeback eventually but the series wasn't selling great (especially on PS platforms where there was a much better option) and it needed a re-tooling. The NBA games are fantastic though, as big a leap ahead as The Show is from 2K in the MLB category, you can say the same about 2K vs. NBA Live in basketball. I'd love to see a return to the NFL one day but that may be a pipe dream.

2K Sports obtaining the WWE license is definitely big time for them.  It's always a pretty popular game, and it's already creating a lot of buzz this year.  They may only have two right now, but they are definitely a pretty big two.  Like Gamer83 said, the baseball game just wasn't very good in comparison to the competition.  From what I always read, the hockey game was usually pretty decent though.  Nonetheless, most sports game fans talk mostly about wanting 2K to get back into the football market again.  EA Sports still has the license for a few more years per reports in early 2014, and who knows if that will be extended again.  That being said, 2K Sports seems to be pretty content just having NBA and WWE right now.

On a side note, 2K Sports needs to revive the tennis series, if any.  There isn't anything on the console market right now, and it would surely be a decent success on PS4/XBox One.

I will admit when it comes to sports games I like ones that you can just pick up and play, thus I am not a big fan of the Madden games.  I dont want to have to be a hardcore sports fan just to be any good at the game.  WHich is why I am enjoying NBA 2K14 so much right now.  I have thought about checking out MLB: The Show for PS4 but I heard that that game is a bit on the sim side so I passed on it.  Which is why I would love a nice casual style baseball game.  If that makes sense.

MLB 14: The Show is excellent, and the series in general is one of the best in the sports genre.  It's definitely set up to be sim, but it can be very casual and easy-to-pick up and play as well.  It even has a beginner setting which basically allows the game to mold around your style as you get better.  I have a 6-year old son, and he enjoys The Show quite a bit.  It has a deep single-player experience, but to be honest, we usually end up just playing exhibition mode 90% of the time.  We just enjoy getting in a quick game or two when we have time.

It's definitely worth a look if you haven't ever played it, and the PS4 version looks amazing!

NBA 2K14 is the best basketball game ever made IMO.
