@RR529: i'm currently playing through that one now
not a bad game really, considering it's F2P
Yeah, I've been playing it ever since it released on Android, and while the going has been slow since I haven't paid anything, I've actually built up a pretty respectable team:
Leader: Super Sayain Goku (UR, Max LV, Super Strength)
Android 16 (SSR, Max LV, Super Physical)
Master Shen (SSR, LV 77, Super Intelligent)
Guldo (SSR, Max LV, Super Technical)
Goku (SSR, Max LV, Super Agility)
Nappa (SR, Max LV, Super Intelligent)
Nappa's the weak link there. I have a few more awakened SSR class fighters I can replace him with (including Perfect Cell & Kid Goku), and even one more UR character (Final Form Cooler, or Coora, as they spell it), but I don't have enough team cost to do it yet.
Anyhow, it's Toonami Saturday night!
DBZ Kai - Missed most of it. Just caught the last 5 minutes where Namek blew up.
Akame ga Kill - Lots of wonderfully animated, over the top fighting tonight. Good stuff. Also, Tatsumi & Mine had some heartwarming moments (I hope they're not pushing that pairing too much though, as I'd much rather see him end up with either Akame or Leone over Mine).
Parasyte: the Maxim - I wasn't expecting THAT to happen! (not the biggest surprise of the show overall, I'll admit, but a blow nonetheless). Wonder where they'll go now.
Samurai Champloo - Look's like the gang has gotten themselves into some Yakuza hijinks. Watching this really makes me realize we haven't really had a good Sengoku Jidai or Meiji Era anime in a long time, and it's way overdue (this is probably the newest one I can think of, and even it's a mid 00's show).
Naruto Shippuden - Looks like the good guys are a stone's throw away from the bad guys, while Naruto's group is just now gearing up for backup.
One Piece - The fighting with this arc's baddies is about to get underway! I'll admit, I seriously loled at the bit with the vicious penguins.
Also, they reviewed Galak-Z: the Dimensions, and awarded it a 7/10.

@TripleGK: By eras do mean the "Edo" period? If yes, I would also recommend Basilisk (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basilisk_(manga)) anime as well. Another really good samurai/ninja genre anime is Sword of the Stranger (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sword_of_the_Stranger) anime movie.
Yeah, when it comes to Sengoku Jidai & Meiji era anime, my favorites are InuYasha & Rurouni Kenshin, though Samurai Champloo will probably be up there too once I'm done with it (I've seen it years ago, but it didn't really leave an impression on me for whatever reason. That's not the case this time).
I also recall liking the Ninja Scroll movie, but it's been a long time since I've watched it, so I don't know how it holds up.
No. When it comes to F2P titles, I usually find one, and focus solely on that one. For awhile it was Godzilla: Smash 3, then Quiz RPG: the legend of Mystic Wiz, then Marvel Contest of Champions, and finally Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle. I've stuck with this one longer than any other, and don't have any intention of moving on any time soon.

Finished the girl who leapt through time. Pretty good, but not a recommend by any stretch. Bog standard ending ruined a good setup.

Just re read the start of the thread, pretty cool looking back. I've since watched loads of anime and cant thank the recommends enough.
1) Full Metal Alchemist - Brotherhood
2) Death Note
3) Ghost in the Shell
4) Psycho Pass
5) Akira
Are my top 5 so far. I havnt watched attack on titan so I may have to look into that a touch more and sword art online seems to have a big fanbase (including you guys) the next animes best be great - Guyver, leapt through time, claymore and the studio gibli stuff have dampened my spirits recently so the next anime I watch needs to be the dogs nuts.

@TripleGK: Your welcome. Nice, I loved watching GTO back then so much so I even watched the live-action TV series. lol
Cool, I've been thinking of buying Hajime no Ippo for quite some time now as I quite like watching sports related animes. Last year, I bought Haikyuu! Season 1 which was about volleyball. I would also recommend SlamDunk manga (not the anime) if you like basketball.
@TripleGK: Ah, I see. For me it was the other way around - manga first then only the anime. Yeah, not only is he hilarious but his rivalry with Rukawa was funny as hell. It's my most favorite manga and I'm still hoping that the creator goes back to it one day but it seems highly unlikely.
Btw, did you watch all three seasons of Hajime no Ippo? I know there was an OVA as well.
@TripleGK: Ryota and Hanamichi - they both got dumped a lot. XD
Have you read Slam Dunk: 10 Days After? The creator basically drew the story on 23 chalkboards in Misaki High School (Japan) as a token of appreciation and thanks to Slam Dunk readers.
Oh wow, I didn't know that the Hajime no Ippo manga was still ongoing. lol
@TripleGK: Nah, I'm from Malaysia plus I don't collect mangas anymore since I don't have the room to accommodate both mangas and animes. Nowadays, I just buy animes. lol
I haven't read Rokudenashi Blues myself, only flipped through one volume of the manga (Japanese version) a long time ago.
Here's the description from wikipedia:
"The story stars Taison Maeda (前田太尊 Maeda Taison?), delinquent student of Teiken High (帝拳高校?), who wishes to become the world boxing champion. The manga follows Maeda (and his friends and rivals) as he struggles through three years of high school while becoming one of the strongest and best known high school fighters in all of Tokyo. Not just a pure action manga, Rokudenashi Blues is filled with humor and well-crafted story arcs about honor, friendship, and the pressures of being a delinquent student in Japan. Short gag-stories with chibi versions of characters are published as "Rokudenashi Buru-chu"."
Seeing Hajime no Ippo reminded me of Rokudenashi Blues. I think you might like it.
That sounds like my type of show, I'll have to try and give it a go even though the scanlations of the show are about 300 chapters behind as its finished...
Yeah, the manga series is really old. They have the OVA on YouTube but unfortunately it doesn't have any English subs.
Well, Dragon Ball Super just finished up it's interpretation of the "Resurrection F" arc. As a whole it was a fun enough time, and I liked the idea behind it, but it also has a list of missed opportunities a mile long (not necessarily things that it did wrong, though there were a couple, but it could have done so much more right). Spoilerific rant below:
Spoilers ahead
Krillin being scared stiff to fight basic Frieza soldiers - This was an addition that wasn't in the film, and it's absolutely absurd. Yes, Krillin hasn't been active for some time, but to think he'd fallen so low as to question his strength against basic Frieza soldiers just wasn't believable, IMO. Especially since Master Roshi was holding up against them. In the past, Krillin was always the clutz, but he was never truly scared unless he found himself in a one-on-one with the big bad.
Frieza's mysterious training - I'm actually really curious as to what Frieza did to become so powerful. We know he beat the crap out of Tagoma (skinny purple guy) during those months, but as Tagoma was only a Zarbon level warrior, I don't really see how that would have pushed Frieza to his limits. I understand why it wasn't done in the film (only so much time to work with), but here, it would have been the perfect way to expand the arc.
Tagoma, Shisami, Ginyu, oh my! - In the film, Frieza kills Tagoma shortly after being resurrected, while Shisami (big red guy) falls to Gohan during the invation. In DBS, Tagoma is kept alive and is revealed to be Frieza's key training partner (no word on if Shisami trained with them as well). During the invasion, Tagoma kills Shisami to get a surprise attack in on Gohan, beats the crap out of the Z fighters, gets body snatched by the return of Ginyu frog (which doesn't seem to affect the battle itself), and is one shotted by Vegeta. I honestly have no problems with most of this, other than the Ginyu bit. Bringing him back to do absolutely nothing with him was pointless. Personally, I would have kept both Tagoma & Shisami around, and dedicate one episode each to a fight between Tien & Tagoma, and then Piccolo & Shisami, with no Ginyu.
Frieza in the dark - By far the biggest missed opportunity of the arc was making every excuse possible not to expose Frieza to any advancements made until SSGSS. For example, Gohan could no longer go SS2, they took Gotenks out of the fight before he could go SS3 (he wasn't even in the movie), and they made excuses as to why neither Andfoid #18 or Buu couldn't make it. Frieza meeting Buu would have been hilarious, due to his stuck up personality, and the fact that he not only knew about his existence, but was actually afraid to fight him before. Frieza learning how silly Buu is would be awesome. Heck, they could have made Buu & SS3 Gotenks competitive with Frieza's lesser forms, and he still would have been so powerful in his "final" form that they needed Goku. This is all understandible in the film (again, only so much time to work with), but it would have been welcomed here.
The lazer - The big elephant in the room, Goku being sidelined by a common ray gun. I actually commend them for having Goku power down before being hit with it (makes it somewhat more believable than in the film, where he was still SSGSS), but seing as how it was pre-planned, I would have simply added a single line of dialogue stating that it was some of Frieza's own energy stored in the ring (essentislly, it would have been like Goku got hit by a Death Beam). This would have made the whole thing contravercy free, even had Goku still been SSGSS.
The defeat - Frieza is ultimately defeated due to the fact that he wasn't used to his new form, and therefore tired himself out (Goku admitted that Golden Frieza is superior to SSGSS, and had Frieza been accustomed to it, there's no way he or Vegeta could have beat him in a one on one). This is acceptable in the film (once again, only so much time), but I can't help but feel it's a bit of a waste here. I'd have had Frieza escape in this version, and have either Goku or Vegeta defeat him by truly overcoming him later on (not give Frieza yet another arc to himself, but have him be a side threat or 3rd party in a future arc).
Spoilers end
Again, I like the idea behind the arc, but the movie will continue to be my preferred way to experience it.
@TripleGK: Thanks, hopefully they still have the movie in stock. As for the TV Series, I noticed they only had the 2nd Season the last time I was there which was in November so I don't know if they'll be able to get both the 1st and 3rd seasons.
Studio Ghibli or however you write it make disneyesque rubbish. I want Sci fi, taboo subjects, anti heroes and fighting.
