I am not an alarmist, I do not hate on publishers for trying to make extra cash with microtransactions/DLC, I believe any company has the right to offer anything at whatever price they want and anybody is free to buy or not their product... However, when I read these news today http://www.gamepur.com/news/18585-mortal-kombat-x-dev-played-...
All I can say is this crosses the line, this should be illegal and gamers need to stand their ground..... you should at least be able to inform yourself of what kind of microtransactions there are in game in order to make a decision whether to buy a game or not..... Now I haven't played Mortal Kombat X after or before the patch so I don't know how bad it is but the issue is that developers should not be free to simply patch making things worse off to the customer after release.....
Imagine this, you inform yourselves you read reviews and ask other gamers in forum, everybody says that microtransactions do not ruin the game and that all unlockables can be obtained through regular gameplay in reasonable time, so you make your decision to buy a game based on that... And then the developer just decides to patch things up so now it takes 10X the time than it did before to unlock things and you get screwed...
If this is allowed then what else can developers do? release a game without microtransactions for reviews then patch then up later? patch a "pay not to wait" microtransaction system into a 60 dollar game you just bought?
The least gamers should be allowed to do is to know in advance what kind of microtransactions are in a game before they buy it... gamers should make their voice heard and reject Mortal Kombat X and denounce this practice to their country's respective consumer protection agencies
