This topic is for predicting which games you think are going to flop in the near future. My guesses:
No Man's Sky (I'll crush under the weight of its own hype, it's just and indie game that has been pushed as a major AAA release and that'll backfire)
Mighty Number 9 (They've seen to have killed all goodwill the game ever have, insulting the fans with the prom night joke would certainly not help)
Titanfall 2 (Because of EA decision to launch it too close to Call of Duty and its own Battlefield I)
as for me Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, the first was fun but wasn't great and the second seems to be going the same way
Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice, just look at the last one need i say more
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, everyone just want the MW4 Remaster, i can see this one going fast
Watch Dogs 2, unless it's a HUGE step up over the first then this will be a major disappointment
"I pity you. You just don't get it at all...there's not a thing I don't cherish!"
"Now! This is it! Now is the time to choose! Die and be free of pain or live and fight your sorrow! Now is the time to shape your stories! Your fate is in your hands!
I can see No Mans Sky being a commercial success as it will no doubt sell well based on the hype. Whether, after a few weeks or so, people will get bored of the game or not, time will tell. I must admit the premise doesn't appeal - fly to a planet, land, gather resources, rinse and repeat. How long before things start feeling like 'deja vu'?
I can see Titanfall 2 selling more than Titanfall. Whether or not it has the same issues that plagued the original or not, time will tell. Its the real alternative to Call of Duty though and offers the 'closest' in terms of game-play - Battlefield is a very different experience and cannot really be played in the same way - not successfully. Well not unless Dice change the heart and soul of Battlefield.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is actually the 5th game (after Deus Ex, Deus Ex: Invisible War, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Deus Ex: The Fall and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided).
CoD:IW could still be a Success. Again it depends on what you consider a 'flop'. Advanced Warfare - probably one of the worst in the franchise sold over 20m - more than CoD4 did so what constitutes a 'flop'?
Personally I see a flop as a game that doesn't become profitable and that is dependent on the investment. FFxv (for example) had a huge investment and 10yr development phase so would need to sell a LOT more than Titanfall 2 to be profitable and therefore a commercial success.
A pessimist is just an optimist with experience!
Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??
Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...
@DualWielding: How do you define flop? Critical, commercial or both?
Titanfall 2: Launching next to CoD will be a decision EA will surely rue.
ReCore: Does anyone care anymore.
Mighty No 9: All signs point to this not being so fine.
GT Sport: Should have had a GT 6 port.
For Honor: Such promise but I fear it'll fall as flat on it's face like a night out with Maradona.
FFXV: Lots of interest but come release many won't be keen.
Ok let's just sit back and see what happens. No use being so negative before these games are even released. And honestly I can see no good coming out of this thread.
Let's try to keep things positive.
