I am fine with that - will you hate me if I pick Streets of Rage 2...

Being serious though there are a number of games I could see being removed or at least having a vote on to remove one option as they are so very similar or a franchise game - Games like Pokemon Red and Crystal, the 5 Final Fantasy games, 3 Mass Effect games. 2 MGS games, 2 Resident Evil games and 2 Batman games too. I guess even the Mario games could be put up against each other to determine the 'best Mario game'

Before I make a serious suggestion on which game to remove, How about today's vote being used to determine which game is the 'best' in franchise? The winner of each 'Franchise' goes through and the rest go out. It would also reduce the game count down more significantly and would give everyone a chance to vote.

I'd also say maybe wait a little while for the E3 stuff to die down, and even for the default homepage to return, as I know having the active forum topics coming up on the right of the homepage helps remind me to vote. With it still being the different home page I think some regular users are just forgetting or are a bit burnt out on video game news generally. Maybe give it a few more days into next week and start it up again as normal.

Or perhaps when the website is back to normal they'll feel like posting an article on the main site to encourage people to vote in these last rounds. HINT

@BAMozzy defo @kyleforrester87 knows ff so he could pick the 2 worst as I agree completely, as for mass effect I would ditch me3 in an instant, I'm not too sure about the batman games as I think you and jaz are the experts and I think 2 in a franchise is ok for the time being. We will run this round as mentioned but I'm totally ok with 2 ff games going and an me game if it doesn't go with the 4 games you guys pick. PS Please keep streets of RAGE 2

Probably, but actually as you 4 fellas have been voting away I think its a good idea, also we can get rid of the grouped up games - so pick a game each to leave

I'd say drop FF10 and FF8 if you want to thin the FF herd, but if only 1 is to go then definitely 10 its gotta be.

Both great games but FF7 is renowned for popularising JRPGs in the West so I suppose FF8 and 10 owe their popularity to 7. 6 gets to stay because it comes up 1st on many of the "Top FF game" lists on the net. Trying to look at 7 without being too biased as it is my personal favourite but I think the fuss over the remake speaks for itself.

Edit: but I'd still say wait 3-7 days and see if it picks up again

Yeah ff7 should stay, ff6 should as you have mentioned. My fave is ff8 although its a bit like marmite. Ff9 was a return to the series roots and I really enjoy 10. So 8,9 or 10 but its your pick, if ff8 went I would understand.

Ok we will wait as we have 41 games as @Bamozzy has pointed out we have a few too many final fantasy games so we will ditch one of them and pick this back up next weekend. Thanks for the input team. We will then be in the top 40. As @kyleforrester87 said its game fatigue - ive never suffered with that. Lol.

Sorry forgot 9 was on the list. 9 is neck and neck with 7 half the time for me, but like 8 it's a bit like marmite too. So more of a personal favourite I guess 10 goes, i think. Lets see what happens in a few days.

Personally I think picking a game that someone else has obviously nominated and dismissing it is a little off. There are quite a few games I could select based on my personal opinion and gaming preference and probably make some case to justify it too. The 2 Batman games are quite different in many ways - Asylum being more linear with City being more open world - for some they preferred the more focussed story of Asylum and others the freedom of the City as Batman I think it makes more sense for the general consensus to pick their favourite to take through to the final stages.

I do think ME3 though was great - right up until the ending - the very last sequence but everything before that delivered as much (if not more) than the previous games. but if that was your choice (assuming we go that way) then fair enough - there is still the other 2 ME games. I just think the best one (according to opinion) should go through - same with all.

I don't know that much about the Final Fantasy series but having 5 that could be rationalise down in some way would be a way to go to. I assume you could put those more similar or of a certain era - like 6 and 7 up against each other and the rest together too rather than just eliminate 4 in one go.

Edit: Whilst I have been typing this, I see the conversation has moved on. It seems that there is a big discussion about the best FF games so why not have an 'elimination group' of all FF games on this list with the same point system as before - 6pts to award - maximum of 5 to any 1 game - eliminate the bottom 1-3??

no your right. For starters although I picked ff8 - I would pick that to go or 9 or 10. In fact I'm doing it. 8 is gone to get us down to 40. We will pick this back up next week guys. Its unfair as you say to drop other peoples games. Hopefully the site team can pick it up from here and do some polling or some of the previous contributors will join back in. Either way we've got to 40 games. Thanks champs and will continue this next week.

It was a kneejerk reaction from myself. Hopefully Kyles right and we need an extra week or so. @ShogunRok @get2sammyb if you fancy running a poll on the best final fantasy out of 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 that would be a big help

Well as you were planning to pick it up next week, now would be a good tome to have that group/poll to eliminate at least 1 in a fair way across the community in time for the competition to restart...

I assume the next stage would be 8 groups of 5 then with the top 2 going through for the head to heads? its difficult to do head to heads with 40 as eventually you end up with an odd number.

I say wait a few days, it's father's day weekend here in the States so people might be busy with that also its still a bit early from E3 ending, so let's give it a few more days.

same here pal, and as a 3 times father with one on the way I best get a game or better still 2 games haha. We will just run the final fantasy league until next weekend

@star-lord sorry mate, dont worry about this if you've got bigger fish to fry, ive been in your shoes myself. To be honest we are gonna restart it next weekend and in the mean time we are running this league to ditch one of the final fantasy games.
