It's a bit warm, which got me thinking about my favourite chillier areas.
FF7, Icicle Village:
Stirs up some weird emotions being the first haven you reach after a certain disc 1 ending moment, but looks like a pretty nice place to be right now.
SSX3, Big Mountain:
I'd love to be anywhere on Big Mountain right now, but ideally I'd be carving all the way from The Throne down to Metro City. I lost hours to that 20 minute run back in the day.
Tomb Raider 3, Antarctica
Because camo down low and hi-viz up top always makes sense. And who says there are no straight lines in nature?
@colonelkilgore The link you posted was for the article the image was from, and not an image. Dunno which one you were trying to post, but here is one of em.
@colonelkilgore if you are on Android, press and hold the image and then press open image in new tab. On computer, right click the image and click open image in new tab. (Not sure how it works on iPhones 😅) Copy the URL from that new tab into the [IMG] tags in here
Some of my snow favorites: the opening of RDR2, the winter part of Mafia 2, Fallout 3 dlc Operation Anchorage, Marcus's Mercenary Shop BL2 Headhunter short dlc, and holiday snow in GTA Online on PS3 the first 2 years.
I’ve always preferred tropical and colorful levels in my games. The blandness of snow and ice from a visual standpoint has never excited me in a game. And don’t even get me started on the slippery aspects of ice levels in platformers. Those should be banned.
That said, I found the snowball fight in The Last of Us Part II to be a nice, quaint little diversion. Well done. Also, recent memories are fond of the ice tracks in Dirt 5.
The screenshot I grabbed off the internet doesn’t do it justice, but I love the neon shining through the ice —
