Any Tennis fans on the forum?

I have to say really well done to Konta for getting into the semi finals at Aus and think she does stand a chance against Kerber if she keeps up with the positive attitude and fighting spirit. I think Konta proves how much working with a psychologist can improve your game and mental attitude.

Also Andy and Jamie both in semi finals its a great week for British Tennis

What are peoples favourite players to watch?

Can't say that I'm a huge tennis fan but I did enjoyed playing Virtua Tennis a lot back then. As for real life tennis, I would sometimes watch the matches on TV whenever Roger Federer, Pete Sampras or Michael Chang were playing.

Huntin' monsters erryday.

My experience with tennis has been playing Virtua Tennis on the Dreamcast and Sonic Allstars tennis on the 360 I think it was. Oh and for about a week in high school during P.E. class, so yeah not a big tennis person.

C'mon Johanna Konta! To be honest, I always assumed Laura Robson would be the British female player to go this far in a Slam - she seemed like she was on the ascension before she got injured for like a billion years. Fair play to Konta, though...

Hopefully Murray can get to the final again, too. Would absolutely love a Murray versus Federer final, but we all know that Djokovic is going to win... Again.

@Tasuki: They are both really bad tennis games. Sonic tennis is awful.

Anna Kournikovas smash court tennis is the champ. Go look it up you could grab it for a fiver. Table tennis by Rockstar one of the first games on the 360 is also worth a look, a master class in deep gameplay with easy mechanics, as long as it still counts in a tennis thread.

@themcnoisy: I don't know I enjoy Virtua Tennis on the DC and it's regarded as one of the must have games for the DC. As for Sonic yeah wasn't a big fan of it I rented it back when there were video stores and that was that.

Oh I also have Mario Tennis on the Virtual Boy

I love tennis, played it throughout high school, then unfortunately got away from the game but I always follow the big tournaments very closely. My current favorites are Maria Sharapova, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. All-time favorite is Pete Sampras.

Never actually sat down to watch it...

However, arcade style Tennis games are one of the only types of sports games I actually like (go figure). Played the heck out of Mario Tennis (N64) back in the day, and I find Family Tennis 3D (3DS) to be a fine way to unwind.

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

My current favourite players to watch are Djokovic who does not seem to bet getting the respect he deserves when he plays especially when he faces Federer. The last US Open was almost hostile towards Djokovic which is unfair as he is at the top of his game. The Aus Open was similar although not as bad.

Really enjoy watching Gasquet and Wawrenka especially for the backhand shots they are a joy to watch. Dustin Brown is really entertaining and pulls off some amazing shot but equally he hits balls out so many times.

In the womens game and I know this will be conterversial but look forward to Wlliams retiring. The physical match up with others players makes match boring to watch. She has achieved so much and I respect that but equally she has not had anyone who could match her physically.

I anjoy watching doubles matches sometimes more than singles because of the faster nature of the game and there being a lot more volleys. But doubles seems to get a lot less coverage and prize money than the singles events.

@themcnoisy Virtua Tennis on DC is great. The critics agree!

As for real tennis, love it although not played in a long while. Want to get into table tennis again. Don't mind watching Wimbledon.

Kyle out.

@get2sammyb:
My favorite was probably Top Spin 2, although my most-played was Wimbledon Championship Tennis on the Genesis. Never got around to playing Top Spin 4.

@dryrain:
The U.S. Open crowd was hostile towards Djokovic because New York sports fans are for the most part idiots (I would know, I grew up there, they love to pretend to know but they really don't know sh*t) and still hold the bullcrap the highly overrated and underachieving Andy Roddick spouted about Djokovic against him. It was 2009, the morons need to get over it already. As far as the Australians, they actually love Djokovic there but they love Federer even more. I thought the favoritism was more out of respect for Federer and his all-time greatness and wanting him to get one last run as opposed to any disdain for Djokovic.

I don't follow tennis much but I do check up on Murray, Konta, and Robson most days. I just hope Murray can beat Djokovic for once, he never seems to win against him. Pretty crazy how Williams lost, too

@get2sammyb: Forgot about her I'll just rephrase that to "I check up on whatever British player is in the news" considering I can't name too many British players, let alone international ones

Kerber played well and matched Williams in a lot of areas her counter punching was great to watch. She also forced Williams to stand further back which not players have done recently.

Murray has got the game to beat Djokovic but he needs to play his best and Djokovic needs to have a drop in form. Kerber was so happy your right she beat some great players along the way. Konta should also be pleased she lost to the champion.
