@Rudy_Manchego There are some great MGS quirks mentioned already. A few come to mind:
In MGS 1 when you can crawl up into the AC ducts and spy on Meryl and find her in her underwear. Contrasted by the massive progression of the peeping Tom mechanic where you can watch Quiet in MGSV showering or laying out in her cell, or stretching and such in the helicopter.
I remember one of them when someone in the codec (I forget who) tells you to hold the Dual Shock controller to your body so she can give you a massage and then the controller vibrates.
the ridiculous running gag of Johnny crapping his pants when he gets nervous in MGS4
The B and B fights in MGS4 have that photo shoot mode with the beauty form posing like a model if you use non lethal tactics in the boss fights.
the cardboard box 📦 is a theme throughout, and in MGS4 I think it was, Snake’s anxiety goes down gradually when hiding in the box
Snake smoking a cigar is a common theme. In the different games the cigar has different effects as I recall (Man I need to replay these as I’m forgetting). In MGSV it speeds up time.
just the general convoluted plot with each game jumping time periods making everything so confusing. Kojima just made the story so hard to follow.
@RogerRoger Awesome. I had got a few jokes lined up for the cardboard box as that is one of my overriding MGS memories but that video is going to really really help.
To hop back to something @RogerRoger and I discussed in the past, about game availability in the UK.
Basically it went like this.
Major third parties - Everywhere
Niche games - Online only, digital only
First Party Xbox/PS - In stores
Nintendo - Online only
Well get this. Just went to see if I can nab a copy of Ys VIII, a new release, releasing TODAY on Nintendo Switch, from our only remaining games dedicated retailer here in the UK and...well...
They dont have it. Doesn't show up on the website. Hell the PS4 version doesn't. Just Vita.
What is this chicanery.

@Kidfried I had to do some hoop jumping to get it and itll be here Tuesday. I believe them as this isn't Amazon!
But yeah thats just...sad. A notable release on a system and they dont even know it exists. Their Twitter response was "Trade some stuff in for credit and go digital"

@RogerRoger Yeh I know right? Argos doesn't have it, nor does ShopTo (Out of stock), and I will NOT trust Amazon with Crash now arriving on Monday, throwing an intended weekend article into the bin.
I got it from Base ultimately.
But yeah...you'd think a game hyped up a fair bit by Nintendo, appeared just as prominently as Wolfenstein 2 and Crash, releasing that same day, would be stocked. But no, you can buy the Vita version instead.
GAME KNOWS it's out too!

On the subject of GAME, I went there last week and I very nearly bought Nier Automata, but when I tried to buy it they didn't have it in stock. So I had a quick look in the other nearby GAME store, but it was £10 more expensive there, so I didn't bother.
@Knuckles-Fajita That's good to hear. I gave Base a try for the first time only yesterday, ordered Nier Automata for PS4, and it shipped first thing this morning. As long as it arrives in the next few days or so, then that site will be fine for my needs.
I wonder if I’m getting enough sleep. How much sleep do people usually get?
I try for 7-8 hrs, but I usually end up getting 5-6 and sometimes I’ll go several days just getting 4-5. Life is too short to spend half of it sleeping. But then if I push myself too much I feel like garbage during the day.

@Th3solution I think Sleep varies according to age. Babies for example need a LOT more sleep than Adults and you tend to need less as you get older. The 7-8hrs sleep is not necessarily beneficial for everyone and some may find its 'too much', that leaves them feeling more 'tired', slower reactions etc. I get 4-5hrs as standard - sometimes less and rarely more but there are numerous different factors that can govern how much sleep you 'need' and sleep you actually get. If you are a lot more active both mentally and physically, that can affect the amount of sleep you need compared to someone who does very little all day.
A pessimist is just an optimist with experience!
Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??
Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...
@Th3solution 4-5 hours in the week. Occasionally lie in at the weekend.
I used to sleep a lot more, I'd say up to my early 20s. Since then I've been dependent on contact lenses for workable vision, so once they're out, I can't see much of anything and get migraine if I try to - nor can I sleep in them. That tends to lead me to stay awake rather late so that I'm dead on my feet by the time I take them out and can get to sleep.
Work then dictates getting up relatively early.
I probably could, and should sleep more though.
