@Th3solution When I'm really into a game, I sometimes dream about the game I'm currently playing. Either where the story is going, or how I could tackle something a bit different if the game is more open world.
I can't remember the last time that happened though, and I very rarely remember my dreams.

@Th3solution I've dreamt about Hyrule. This was back when Ocarina of Time came out. Another dream had me waking up with my arms outstretched holding an invisible pad, no idea what game I was playing though 🤣
@Th3solution I dream in the style of a game if I play the game to the very moment I go to sleep. Which is something I don't really do any more to be honest!
Like if I fall asleep playing a game, my dream will take the form of that game but with my usual dream contents if that makes sense? My dream will be usual but I'll be experiencing it like I would be experiencing whatever game I was playing as I fell asleep. So for example, a disembodied third person view with a HUD (or whatever the third person HUD is called) or something.
The worse ones come when I was playing Picross games late at night, both as a video game and in the paper Picross magazines. My dreams would have this horrid grid overlay with numbers at the side and top. Not sure if the image of my dream underneath the grid was incomplete like if I was halfway through a picross.
It’s been really fascinating reading everyone’s weird gaming related dreams. Glad I’m not the only one who has my favorite hobby invade my sleep time. 😄

Another random question on my mind that I wonder if anyone has opinions on —
When we get a sequel to a game, do you prefer it to just keep the original game title and follow with a number “2” or do you prefer an original name for the game?
I’m not sure if I’m explaining my question well, but with the release of Spider-Man 2 I’m a little disappointed that was the best they could come up with for a name. I felt the same about The Last of Us Part II, and Red Dead Redemption II. At least give us something with a subtitle, a la Uncharted 2: Among Thieves or The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
I appreciate when there’s something unique about the game invested into the sequel’s title: God of War: Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Batman Arkham City, Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom_, etc, etc.
In the case of Spider-Man, I realize that with Spider-Man: Miles Morales they had set a precedent that a named title indicated an offshoot expansion and they probably put the “2” there to really highlight the fact this is a large scale fully fleshed mainline sequel.
Still, when we get Death Stranding 2, Ghost of Tsushima 2, and Bloodborne 2 (…. we can hope…😄) I would like to see more creativity in the naming, personally.
@Th3solution I'm not fussed about 2s or 3s, subtitles or other naming conventions.
Maybe there are some weird numbers to finish on before restarting a numbering system, like 11 before going back to 1 for mortal Kombat. Mortal Kombat 12 has a certain ring to it so I guess it's sort of a shame we won't get it?
I do quite like when number systems get rejigged or subtitled entries get counted like with Mario Kart. Waiting on Mario Kart 10 now! (If they count Tour as 9)
Many moons ago the band Franz Ferdinand said every album they did was going to be self titled only with a different colour way and aesthetic for each record. They never followed through with it and it has always bothered me so i would really like someone to do that.
My favourite series numbering is probably for the Doom games which go (I think):
Doom
Doom 2
Doom 64
Doom 3
Doom
Doom Eternal
Now I know people on here are generally clued up and aware that the 64 is because it was specifically designed for sole release on the N64 but now they're all available on PS but for any casual gamers and youngsters ... well I guess that's what Wikipedia is for. And then after 3 (4?) they just restart at Doom without a care. I hope the next one is Doom 2 again.
“We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.”
Yeah, the Resident Evil games and the Final Fantasy games have made a really confusing convention of sometimes mixing in mainline numbers along with sometimes having a separate name for an entry. Even when it probably needed to be a mainline entry, like RE: Code Veronica, or when it probably didn’t need to be a mainline entry, like Final Fantasy XI. And then you have the double numbered entries like Final Fantasy XIII-2…. 😵💫. I prefer what they are doing with the FF7 reimaginings where it’s been Remake, followed by Rebirth, with Reunion in between. That’s clever.
@Gremio108 Or like the Die Hard movies, simply Bloodborner.
…On second thought, that looks too close to another word and would easily be confused for a AO rated vampire dating sim.
@sorteddan I intended to tag you on my comment above about series like Doom that mix numbers and non-numbers to the sequels.
But it also reminded me of one of my most embarrassing Push Square moments:
In an article about Farming Simulator 19, I commented about how surprised I was that the franchise was popular enough to have justified 19 installments. I was assuming the 19 meant it was the 19th game in the series. @kyleforrester87 made sure to correct me. 😂
@Th3solution I didn't realise that EA Sports FC 24 was the 24th game game in series. It only seems that they took over the licence from Fifa recently...

@kyleforrester87 I've managed to kill off all of the other JohnnyShoulder's around the world wide Web.
There was someone else with a surname of Shoulder at work, which I found a bit disconcerting. But they only lasted about a year before they left, which was a relief

@Jimmer-jammer Hey man. Hope all is well. Have you read any of the Witcher graphic novels by Dark Horse? I remember you said you liked Sweet Tooth a while ago, I just picked up volumes one & two of the Witcher omnibuses and they seem pretty legit so far.
