Topic: The Chit Chat Thread

Been enjoying my retirement from music, not that I was ever a professional or anything, but, yeah, it feels good to be moving in a different direction, focusing on other subjects, including gaming of course, been doing some lite farming in Elden Ring and watching The Boondocks on my Ps5, as I've posted elsewhere, also got a bit further with Telephone by Percival Everett, it's starting to get very interesting now - the book, I mean, life, too, hopefully! 😃

Edit: Also been listening to Curren$y's stellar work with Harry Fraud. I like the prevalent nautical theme throughout their collaborations. Here is an example:

@BlAcK_Sw0rDsMaN so I hadn’t actually heard of The Boondocks prior to your mentioning it but it looks great. I’ve had a quick search for it online but can’t find where it’s available?

@colonelkilgore I’m really surprised you haven’t, but I suppose it’s easy to miss for non-Americans… not sure if I should be saying that thought since I’m one too. But it made a splash around its runtime, it caught my eye in some online circles and gave it a go. It’s an extremely specific show though, vibes and jokes wise I mean, but extremely clever in its jokes and got fantastic satire. Worth a try. Artstyle gives it a boost too.

@Yousef- if I can find it anywhere (I mean I have SkyQ, Netflix, Prime, Apple+, Disney+ and Paramount+… so you’d like to think it’ll be on of those) I’ll be sure to check it out.

Yeah ps3 presence was nonexistent here during its birth year
When I saw it in newspapers back in 2006 thought it was fake cuz nobody was buying it

Similar to a lot of people, I never got a ps3 until its rebirth year with Kevin Butler saying the magical three numbers; “299”
Suddenly everyone and their gramma had a ps3. Those were the days.
It was really nice honestly. We played Tekken 6, GTA IV, Dynasty Warriors 7, WWE 2011 and so many other games we were hyped for me and my relatives.

Can say I “went the Xbox route” too, but at a different time. But even with that difference, my experience mirrors yours. Fullstop, I’ve never been really able to afford or justify getting a ps5. The upgrade didn’t seem worth it and there were no games I wanted, on the other hand… there were tons of games I’ve wanted to revisit on Xbox land that really mattered to me back in the day (and the magic was still there when I replayed them!) like gta iv and dynasty warriors 7 and will you look at that, 299 too!

It’s kinda fascinating, really. All this was before steam deck as well and now that I have SD, can safely say all my gaming needs are met and no need for a ps5 anymore. Life is pretty good.

@colonelkilgore wish I could help you there colonel, havent watched it in years so I’ve no clue where it’s streaming currently. Good luck though.

@colonelkilgore I got the complete uncensored series on dvd, UK region version - 1 or 2 - I forget so do check to avoid getting one you can't play, from eBay. Good luck hunting one down though! Oh yeah and do make sure to watch out for your rival, a certain secret recipe-poultry-pedalling sanders! 🤣

As a side note, some tv shows can be found digitally on PSN/Xbox stores.

@Yousef- cheers buddy… I’d rather not purchase it individually though as I spend enough on tv subscriptions as it is. I’m kinda like the tv viewer equivalent of a Gamepass-stan 😊

@colonelkilgore You’re welcome. And I agree — for some reason I just don’t like to pay a la carte for TV or movies, and if something’s not on a streaming service I already subscribe to then I’m just not going to watch it! 😅

TV is a little different from games in the sense that 90% of them are disposable and there’s way more options out there so I don’t feel the need to own many of them. I previously bought a lot of my favorite movies, but now I find that I almost never watch them, with a few rare exceptions.

I know there’s are TV and movie enthusiasts that enjoy having physical libraries of their favorite shows and that’s fine too.

Totally agree with people's views on streaming services, except that I don't like the idea of ongoing charges for things for the most part, unless they are absolutely necessary for modern man's survival in the Western world.

I also plan to binge watch a few more episodes of The Boondocks tomorrow and then do some more farming in Elden Ring, still in the mid-late twenties for my character's Strength stat. Planning to go after the trolls once I get to 40.

Edit; Hopefully 40 is enough to kill them easily, any response from the vets amongst you on that?

@BlAcK_Sw0rDsMaN str isn’t really for strength, per se. It’s for builds and to wields specific weapons in mind. It can increase damage, but that’s not necessarily why you raise the stat.

I don’t quite like streaming services either. Don’t have a single one. I prefer owning shows when possible or catching them on tv. Kuwait also occasionally gives a second theatrical screening to old films so there’s that too.

I was hoping the article would be posted on PushSquare to see what the commenters/forums posters here think given the respectable number of footie fans (myself very much included) rather than direct a TI which don’t get me wrong it’s fine but I rarely go there so I’m kinda curious what people here think. This would’ve been a hilarious way to shake up the discourse from all the usual ps5 doomposting.

Anyone feels like comment sections are strongly negative these days
