I think that's Brazil pretty much screwed. He's seriously their only decent means of carrying an attack. Oscar is good too but I can't see him alone doing much to Germany's defence. All signs point to them going out in the semi final, I just can't see them beating Germany in any department.
Yesterday Germany proved that they can win games, but they will make the minimal effort to do so. In Neymar Brazil lost their biggest star yesterday. We will see what happens.
As usual, I wish Belgium wins, but I guess Argentina will.
I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.
I'm gonna take a gamble on Belgium today. I think they'll just squeeze a win. I hope it's a good game though. For the sake of predictions (and probably looking horribly wrong after the game) I'll say...
Argentina - 1 Belgium - 2
As for tonight's game...
Netherlands - 3 Costa Rica - 0
As much as I like Costa Rica, I think Holland will run away with this one by the end. They'll need Robben at his best to do so, but I just can't see Costa Rica having enough to beat them. Kinda hope I'm wrong though!
Even if Holland win the penalty shoot-out now I hope Van Gaal gets an absolute slaughtering for switching his keepers. Absolutely pathetic decision and shows what an ego maniac he is with no care about making players look like idiots. Be warned United fans on here, there is a reason he isn't thought of so fondly by teams he's managed.
"Oh smeg. What the smegging smegs he smegging done? He's smegging killed me."

The German's make as much effort as they need to. France were poor so Germany were able to play at a canter.

I dunno, it seemed like a pre-planned move to me. Perhaps he was putting on a brave face, but the keeper that came off didn't appear despondent -- makes me think he knew that was the plan all along.
Having said that, I do agree that it was a bloomin' bonkers move.
The substitution was definitely planned. I thought it was pretty clear that Krul had - for some reason - been trained as the team's penalty keeper.
That said, it's quite a risky move since you're not guaranteed three substitutions of your choosing. What happens if you pick up an injury after already making two? Weird.

Krul is a much taller guy. Long arms and legs are good weapons against stopping penalties.
The keeper has since said he didn't know about it and he was fuming but didn't show it as he knew cameras would be looking for it.
I don't hate LVG, he's a good coach. I've just got friends and family who have supported teams he's managed and know what he's like. A quick period of success followed by just about managing to win before the inevitable collapse and sacking. Just amuses and frustrates me that the media here are already labelling him a genius just because he's off to Man U. If he was going to, say, Spurs they'd have called him a moron. Oh, Krul had saved two of his last twenty odd penalties before the shootout while the other had a much better record. I just think it's stupid - tactical or not - as he's basically saying to his number one "I don't trust you in a penalty situation." Got nowt against the Dutch but I hope it comes down to them losing in a shoot-out tomorrow.
Buzzing about the semi-finals. Can see a German v Argies final on the card with Klose breaking the scoring record. Hope he does, a proper player who never moans and just gets on with his job.

EDIT at 4-0: This is identical to watching Liverpool 5 Arsenal 1. Brazil are hopeless, clueless, embarrassing and pathetic. Their luck has well and truly run out tonight and they're getting the kicking they've long been overdue. What's scary is Germany aren't even looking that good.
Without Silva at the back, it's like watching kids against men. Utterly insane - I've never seen a team crumble so quickly at this level before. But I must admit, I'm loving every minute of this. As soon as that third goal went in I stood up and shouted "GET IN" like a total nutter.
I think praise still needs to go to Germany. Sure, it's too easy, but the relentlessness and the composure to just hit that many goals in one after another is impressive. I hope they get more.
Embarrassing. Destroyed before 30 minutes. Completely, totally, and utterly useless.
