Hey guys! So, I'm getting married one week from today. Really exciting!
Video games are a large part of my life, so I had to find some way of incorporating them into the wedding...and I've decided that the entire prelude music is going to be 100% video game based. I wanted to know if you guys had any extra pieces you think would be good. I need it to be somewhat neutral - I can't have music creeping out my guests, and I can't have something that gets super loud and builds a lot. So for instance, I won't use Skyrim's main theme because it's too dramatic. I also don't want to use something that's so popular with non-gamers that they'll know it's gaming music. I want it to be a little sneaky.
Here are some of my choices so far...I'd love to get more mass effect, infamous, zelda, megaman, crash, secret of mana, etc.
The overworld theme of FFVII is actually called "Main Theme of FFVII" so that might be why you have trouble finding it, but I would argue that isn't a very good choice. It's pretty complex and it builds and then it get depressing for a bit, just like most of Nobuo Uematsu's music. Aeris' Theme is a better choice from that soundtrack. Especially the version from the Piano Collections which is the same as the version from Advent Children, except I think Nobuo Uematsu himself played the piano on the AC OST.
I have a hard time finding great selections that aren't too complex, depressing, or video-gamey. I have about 250 hours worth of game soundtracks but they're soundtracks, so it's hard to find pieces that fit situations outside of the game. Especially weddings. But I'm going to try it anyway, because I love giving VGM suggestions:
Koji Kondo (composer) Yoshiyuki Ito and Masumi Ito (arrangers) - The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - Forest Theme (Sound & Drama arranged ver.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSBmP5uz9rU
Yasunori Mitsuda (composer) Masashi Hamauzu (arranger) - Seventh Seal - Melody of Aqua (from Sailing to the World Piano Score) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HG0lcaXuJEU really that entire album is amazing, though. Both Yasunori Mitsuda and Masashi Hamauzu are great composers
