So it seems increasingly obvious from the President of NOA that the NX is indeed Nintendo's future home console. Will it have some kind of mobile function? Perhaps, but it seems pretty evident right now that it's main focus will be to sit underneath your television.
My question is, do you have any interest in it? Especially if it is actually a decent piece of hardware instead of a piece of tech that relies on a gimmick.
Personally for me, with the Wii, I lapsed and became disinterested as that consoles lifespan went on. With the Wii U, as a launch customer, I felt let down by the lack of third party offerings and long droughts every year. For me, I feel burned by Nintendo, they may make amazing first party software, but it does not offer enough variety or takes on popular genres to keep me fulfilled. I've pretty much vowed to myself to never buy another Nintendo home console until at least six months after launch.
To be able to honestly answer this question we need to know what the home console is. There are two requirements for me though. It has to be 2-3 times more powerful PS4 and X1 and have good third party support. Outside of the Super Mario platformers, Zelda and Super Smash Bros. I really don't care for Nintendo's properties anymore and I can't justify a console just for those alone when there may be 2 tops in each one during the system's cycle. If it's going to get the best versions of my favorite third party games however, I have no problem shelling out for an NX.
Well, as of now we know nothing of it, except a name once we do we can discuss if we will get one. Until then I am going to end this conversation before it gets out of hand with Nintendo doom predictions.
